Ao Ruipeng’s Drama Journey Continues Without Li Landi

The summer sleeper hit Coroner’s Diary (朝雪录) has officially wrapped, and its two leads, Ao Ruipeng and Li Landi, gave fans plenty to swoon over at the cast celebration.

The mystery-costume series shocked everyone with its success, clocking up a massive 1.735 billion views across platforms and cementing itself as one of 2025’s biggest breakout dramas.

At the party, Ao Ruipeng kept it clean and casual in a crisp white shirt and dark jeans, while Li Landi went for a chic dark-brown top paired with jeans.

Standing side by side and flashing playful “V” signs, the pair once again showed off their chemistry.

Social media instantly fixated on their 25 cm height gap — Ao at 188 cm towering over Li Landi at 163 cm — with the adorable contrast quickly trending on Weibo.

Fans flooded comments with calls for another drama pairing, praising the “sweetness” the two managed to carry off both on and off screen.

Upmedia reported that many netizens dubbed them one of the most natural duos of the year.

Originally, the reunion everyone wanted almost happened.

Ao Ruipeng and Li Landi dating in Coroner's Diary

Ao Ruipeng and Li Landi were both linked to the upcoming modern romance My Queen, My Rules (不二之臣), adapted from Bu Zhishi Ke Cai’s popular novel.

However, talks reportedly stalled over the delicate issue of fanwei (billing order).

With no agreement reached, the female lead role was reassigned to Shen Yujie, who ironically played Li Landi’s on-screen bestie in Coroner’s Diary.

That casting twist has left some fans gutted. “It’s such a shame.

Their chemistry in Coroner’s Diary was amazing. We were hoping to see them together again in a new drama,” read one of the most upvoted Weibo comments.

Despite the setback, anticipation around My Queen, My Rules is already building.

The drama centres on Cen Sen (Ao Ruipeng), a sharp-suited CEO who enters a contract marriage with Ji Mingshu (Shen Yujie), a strong-willed heiress.

After tying the knot, Cen Sen heads off to Australia to expand his business empire, only to return three years later to a frosty welcome.

Ji Mingshu greets him with divorce papers, sparking a witty back-and-forth filled with sass, luxury yachts, and more than a little romantic tension.
