Chika Jessica’s Nephew Caught in Bandung Crackdown
Chika Jessica Reveals Nephew Beaten by Police After Bandung Protest Chaos

Actress Chika Jessica has spoken out on Instagram about a frightening ordeal her nephew went through on the night of 2 September 2025 in Bandung.

According to Chika, her nephew had nothing to do with the protest taking place near the parliament building.

He had just finished work and stopped briefly to buy a street food on his way home when he got caught up in the chaos.

“Wrong place, wrong time”

Chika explained that her nephew was suddenly swept into the crackdown as officers moved in to disperse protesters.

Despite not being part of the crowd, he was allegedly dragged, struck on the head, and hit multiple times by the police.

“Last night in Bandung, my nephew became a victim of police violence. He wasn’t protesting. He had just finished work and was buying food when he got caught up. Officers were chasing people and just hit anyone in their way,” Chika wrote in her Instagram story.

Injuries and trauma

Local media later reported that Chika’s nephew suffered a swollen cheek, bruises on his right hand, a knee injury from being dragged, and a lump on his head. He even vomited afterwards and told his family he thought he was going to die in that moment.

“By the time he got home, this boy who rarely cries broke down completely. He said, ‘I thought I was going to die just now,’” Chika shared.

Despite the trauma, he managed to return to his workplace before heading home, choosing to face the dangerous streets rather than hide in panic.

The violent clash in Bandung was part of a wave of protests against proposed changes to the parliamentary system across several Indonesian cities.

The rallies left at least 10 people dead nationwide, with reports of students, journalists, and bystanders injured. Videos circulating online also show armoured vehicles being driven into crowds and tear gas fired near university areas.

Chika’s testimony quickly spread online, with fans and fellow celebrities sending prayers and demanding accountability.

Many pointed out how her nephew’s case highlights the risks ordinary people face when they are caught in the wrong place during protests.

For now, Chika has asked for space for her nephew to recover, while also hoping the authorities will take the matter seriously.
