| Ma Sichun Back in the Hot Seat After Zhang Manle Spotted Bruised at Hospital and Police Station |
Ma Sichun's name is trending once again – but not for a new film or red carpet appearance. The Golden Horse-winning actress is back in the public eye after her on-again, off-again boyfriend, rock band Penicillin frontman Zhang Zhexuan (a.k.a. Zhang Manle), was recently spotted at a Beijing hospital and later at a police station – both under rather eyebrow-raising circumstances.
According to eyewitness accounts, Manle showed up at the hospital emergency room looking battered, with scabs on his nose and visible bruises on his face. One bystander claimed he moved sluggishly and hinted that his injuries might’ve come from a wine bottle – though nothing's confirmed. Just hours later, he was reportedly seen inside a police station's mediation room, fuelling wild speculations online.

Naturally, netizens didn’t hold back. Some wondered aloud if a dispute had gotten physical, while others joked about Manle’s reputation, saying, “Here he goes again – getting drunk, beat up, and dragged to the cops.”
The drama adds another layer to Ma Sichun and Zhang Manle’s rocky romance, which has been making headlines since 2021 when they were first caught holding hands. They went official in August 2022 but have had a stormy ride since, with breakup rumours surfacing every few months.

Their most recent supposed split was in April 2025 – yet, just a few weeks later, Ma was allegedly seen waiting for him in a car park, looking every bit the concerned girlfriend. So, are they back together? Well, your guess is as good as ours.
Online reactions have been mixed but largely critical, especially towards Ma Sichun. Many are once again questioning why someone of her calibre keeps sticking by a man whose public image hasn’t exactly improved with time.
Zhang Zhexuan, who shot to fame through The Big Band, has faced backlash in the past over accusations of plagiarism and crude behaviour, and this latest episode hasn’t helped his reputation.

In response to the incident, Zhang Manle did post a message privately, later circulated via World Journal. He claimed, “Everyone drank too much yesterday,” adding, “We were just brothers hanging out and later went our separate ways.” Bit vague, to be honest, and not quite enough to calm the online buzz.
As of now, neither Ma Sichun nor Zhang Zhexuan has made a proper public statement. And with all the “are they, aren’t they” going on, fans – and critics – are left piecing things together from blurry car park photos and social media whispers.
Whether this is another messy chapter or the beginning of yet another reconciliation, one thing’s clear: Ma Sichun’s love life continues to be far more dramatic than most of the scripts she’s starred in lately.
