The Golden Horse-winning actress is back in the public eye after her on-again, off-again boyfriend, rock band Penicillin frontman Zhang Zhexuan (a.k.a. Zhang Manle), was recently spotted at a Beijing hospital and later at a police station – both under rather eyebrow-raising circumstances.

According to eyewitness accounts, Manle showed up at the hospital emergency room looking battered, with scabs on his nose and visible bruises on his face. One bystander claimed he moved sluggishly and hinted that his injuries might’ve come from a wine bottle – though nothing's confirmed. Just hours later, he was reportedly seen inside a police station's mediation room, fuelling wild speculations online.

Naturally, netizens didn’t hold back. Some wondered aloud if a dispute had gotten physical, while others joked about Manle’s reputation, saying, “Here he goes again – getting drunk, beat up, and dragged to the cops.”

The drama adds another layer to Ma Sichun and Zhang Manle’s rocky romance, which has been making headlines since 2021 when they were first caught holding hands. They went official in August 2022 but have had a stormy ride since, with breakup rumours surfacing every few months.

Their most recent supposed split was in April 2025 – yet, just a few weeks later, Ma was allegedly seen waiting for him in a car park, looking every bit the concerned girlfriend. So, are they back together? Well, your guess is as good as ours.
