Youku’s Long-Awaited Suspense Drama “The Seven Relics of Omen” Finally Gets the Green Light (Weibo/Youku)

After a long wait and some serious anticipation brewing among fans of fantasy and suspense dramas, Youku has finally pulled back the curtain on its upcoming series — “The Seven Relics of Omen” (七根心简).

Officially announced with its star-studded cast and a shiny new distribution licence secured as of April 2025, this one’s been a long time coming.

The drama actually wrapped filming way back in 2023, and has since been waiting quietly in the wings — like a sealed tablet just itching to be unearthed.

And now it’s finally ready to make its way onto our screens.

Starring a fresh mix of talent including Liu Haocun, Song Weilong, Ao Ruipeng, and Wang Yiting, this 32-episode adventure blends ancient mysticism, sci-fi suspense and a whole lot of heart.

Directed by Tsai Yueh Hsun, known for his visual flair and storytelling chops, the show promises a uniquely gripping ride.

So what’s it all about?

The Seven Relics of Omen Liu Haocun and Song Weilong

Set in a fictional ancient era, a freak meteorite crashes down onto Fengzi Ridge — but it’s not just any space rock.

Encased inside is something... not from this world.

Seven creepy, alien-like entities hitch a ride inside it, and they’ve got some seriously nasty abilities: think body-snatching, mind-twisting, and evil-amplifying.

Basically, if one gets its claws into you, you’re in trouble.

To stop the chaos, a wise old master and his disciples seal each entity into a sacred wooden tablet — the “Seven Heart Tablets” — and lock them away with something called the Phoenix Lock, forged from the very same meteorite.

All good... until a nosy dog digs one up a hundred years ago, and things start getting weird again. Like... murderously weird.

Cue our unlikely heroes: five young strangers who become the “Phoenix Squad” — Mu Dai, Luo Ren, Yan Hong Sha, Wan San, and Cao Yan Hua.

They’re not trained warriors or chosen ones.

Just passionate, stubborn, and slightly chaotic individuals thrown together by fate to track down and reseal the rogue tablets before more destruction unfolds.

Think ancient curses meet cosmic horror, with a pinch of friendship and a whole lot of danger.

There’s mystery, mayhem, and a team dynamic that’s already giving us found-family vibes.

Why you should keep an eye on this one:

  • If you loved stories like The Untamed, Guardian, or even Stranger Things but wanted more ancient China with a sci-fi twist — this might be your next obsession.

  • The production’s been under wraps for a while, so expectations are high for tight storytelling and stunning visuals.

  • The combination of a unique premise, emotional stakes and a bit of cosmic dread? Yes, please.

No official release date yet, but now that the licence is in hand, it’s just a matter of time.

Let the countdown to unsealing the “Seven Heart Tablets” begin.
