Ke Chun’s 20k-a-Day Salary Reveal Comes Back to Bite

From 5k to 20k: Ke Chun’s Price Hike May Have Just Priced Him Out
Ke Chun’s 20k Salary Dream Backfires: “No One Dares to Cast Me Now”

Remember that viral bit where everyone was shocked Ke Chun earns 20,000 yuan a day?

Well, turns out even Ke Chun himself thinks that might’ve been a bit too ambitious.

On a recent acting workshop reality show, the short drama heartthrob opened up about the struggles that came after he started asking for that eye-watering day rate.

In his own words, ever since the 20k price tag was floated, “very few scripts” have come his way.

Yep, even the producers are ghosting him now.

Hanikezi, who’s apparently been waiting for Ke Chun to hand over a drama script where she can play his female lead, joked about his silence—and Ke Chun replied with a laugh, “Trouble comes from the mouth!”

Ke Chun’s Price Tag Too Spicy? Why He’s Suddenly Not Getting Scripts

To be fair, he didn’t actually say he’s earning 20k every single day—he was just quoting his asking price.

His real numbers are a bit more layered.

He used to earn around 4k–5k Yuan per day, then after his breakout popularity (thanks to short drama hit “Such a Good Good Girl” racking up over 2 billion views), his rate jumped to about 5k–8k.

Then came the 20k dream… and the “no scripts” nightmare.

According to Ke Chun, Such a Good Good Girl was shot over 14 intense days and he was paid a lump sum of 500,000 yuan—not a daily 20k, but a package deal, which breaks down to roughly 35.7k yuan per day on paper.

Still steep, but not the everyday rate many assumed.

And after that number got out?

Production teams backed off fast, saying the cost just didn’t make sense for short drama budgets.

To make things trickier, Ke Chun also opened up about the insane filming pace these web dramas demand.

He once shot 62 scenes in a single day—20 of which were crying scenes!

That "finish-a-drama-in-3-days" hustle might bring clout and cash, but it’s also taken a toll on his health.

Lately, he’s been eyeing a move into long-format dramas.

But even there, it’s not all smooth sailing.

Veteran actress Hao Lei critiqued his emotional acting, saying it felt too mechanical and lacked depth.

And with the short drama space now oversaturated, even big names like him risk fading into the background.

Still, not all hope’s lost.

With over 20 billion views to his name and a massive fanbase of 4 million on Douyin, Ke Chun still has serious pull.

Industry insiders say that if he’s willing to be flexible on his fees and find the right producers to team up with, a comeback is definitely on the cards.

So, yeah… lesson learned: maybe next time, keep the rate reveal off-camera?
