After Engagement Split, BE:FIRST's Ryoki Miyama Confirms Selling the Land

Popular boy band BE:FIRST’s Ryoki Miyama — known to fans simply as Ryoki — has quietly made headlines beyond his music career. The rising star reportedly scored a huge payday last year by selling a prized piece of land right near Nagoya Station, a prime spot that’s just a few minutes’ walk from the bustling transport hub.

This revelation comes amidst ongoing chatter about Ryoki’s personal life, which has kept fans and the media on their toes. Not long ago, reports surfaced of his engagement break-up with Akari Ohno, better known as “R-chan” — a popular Japanese YouTuber and businesswoman. Now, Ryoki’s agency has confirmed the land sale, putting to rest rumours swirling around his finances and recent relationship drama.

Based on Bunshun reports, after getting engaged with R-chan, he was gifted a Mercedes-Benz, an ultra-luxury watch worth 10 million yen, a property in Nagoya, and received a monthly allowance of 2 million yen, amounting to around 100 million yen in total. Because of this, the magazine labelled Miyama’s actions as 'engagement fraud'.

The land in question is a highly sought-after 40-tsubo (approximately 132 square meters) plot, of which Ryoki held two-thirds ownership. Situated mere steps from Nagoya Station, the property had great development potential, catching the eye of local developers. At an estimated price of about 160万円 (roughly £3,200) per tsubo, Ryoki’s share from the sale was believed to be around 40 million yen — that’s close to £300,000.

Industry insiders say the timing of this sale — in September 2024 — interestingly coincides with the period when Ryoki and Akari’s engagement reportedly ended, leading many to speculate if the financial move was linked to his personal life’s upheavals.

Adding more layers to the story, earlier this year, reports emerged of Ryoki’s swift new romance and impending marriage to actress Shuri, daughter of famed actor Yutaka Mizutani and singer Ran Ito. The news surprised many, given the whirlwind nature of his recent relationship break-up and the lack of prior public dating hints with Shuri.

Sources close to Ryoki reveal the ex-gf comes from a well-established family in Nagoya, known for their long-standing floral business housed in a building they own near the station. Ryoki himself has made savvy property investments since his late teens & during his relationship with R-chan, including owning a luxury apartment in Tokyo’s prime areas, which he now rents out.

Despite the agency’s statements affirming that the property sale was handled properly through legal channels by Ryoki’s tax advisor, some netizens on social media have voiced criticism, especially over the earlier reports that Ryoki had received expensive gifts and financial support during his previous engagement, leading to a heated online debate.

Akari herself has commented on the situation with a tone of understanding, acknowledging the assets Ryoki holds but also revealing the complex financial reality she experienced while supporting his family during their relationship. She praised the efforts Ryoki and his mother made to manage their circumstances, describing it as “commendable.”
