In a recent interview promoting the drama, Zhou Yiran opened up about what it was like filming with Zhang Jingyi for the first time — and let’s just say, his memory of their first day couldn’t have been more vivid.
“I remember we started filming at a school,” Zhou recalled with a grin. “We didn’t really know each other yet. When we took a break after a scene, I looked back and saw someone lying flat on the ground. I thought, ‘Wow, this person’s really interesting – carefree, honest, and so down-to-earth.’”

Zhou Yiran admitted he initially saw Zhang Jingyi as this “clean and sweet” figure, almost like a real student straight out of a coming-of-age film — only to be caught off guard by how chill and unbothered she was behind the scenes. “She could just lie down anywhere on set. It was oddly refreshing,” he laughed.
Zhang Jingyi, on her end, gave a playful breakdown of her character, describing her as “60% strong, 20% pretty, and 20% gentle.”
ZhouYiran, meanwhile, sees his own character as “60% a companion, 20% childlike, and 20% spontaneous.” A solid match of energies, both on-screen and off.
