Jaime Quiroz: Where Is Estrella Dinamarca’s Associate Now? Inside the Watches Case.

Jaime Antonio Quiroz Jara became one of the notable figures caught up in Caso Relojes, Chile’s high-profile investigation into the alleged trade of stolen luxury watches and jewellery. His name emerged alongside Estrella Dinamarca Sánchez and Marco Antonio López Spagui, better known as Parived, as investigators examined an alleged network involving expensive goods brought into the country and sold to wealthy buyers.

Netflix’s High End: The Watch Theft Ring revisits the investigation, offering a closer look at the people involved and featuring an interview with Jaime himself. But with the documentary bringing renewed attention to the case, one question naturally follows: where is Jaime Quiroz now, and what happened after his arrest?

Jaime's connection to the investigation reportedly became apparent around 2016, when authorities began examining a suspected operation involving stolen watches and jewellery arriving in Chile from overseas. Investigators gradually built a picture of the people they believed were involved, eventually identifying Estrella Dinamarca Sánchez as the alleged leader of the network.

Detectives subsequently began monitoring her telephone communications, hoping to understand how the operation worked and who was helping keep it running. Apparently, following the conversations was considerably more revealing than simply looking at the expensive watches changing hands.

According to investigators featured in the Netflix documentary, Jaime was believed to be one of Estrella's closest associates, with responsibilities involving the collection of merchandise, money transfers and cash arriving from abroad. Authorities alleged that he maintained contact with suppliers, some of whom were suspected international thieves, and negotiated prices for luxury watches, jewellery and other valuable items. His alleged responsibilities reportedly extended beyond arranging transactions, with investigators claiming that he also helped distribute the merchandise to potential buyers in Chile.

One name that emerged during the investigation was Marco Antonio López Spagui, AKA Parived, the former husband of television personality Tonka Tomicic Petric. Investigators alleged that some of the stolen goods were sold to high-profile customers, including Parived.

The documentary also examines the connections between the individuals and the meetings that attracted the attention of detectives. For his part, Jaime described knowing Parived more as a collector than a buyer. Naturally, the distinction became another interesting detail for investigators trying to understand the relationships behind the alleged transactions.

Telephone recordings reportedly provided investigators with additional information about Jaime's activities. One recorded conversation allegedly captured him negotiating the price of jewellery, giving authorities further reasons to examine his involvement.

During her interview, Estrella also recalled that Jaime was always well dressed whenever they met. It might sound like an insignificant detail in an investigation involving expensive watches, but apparently his appearance was memorable enough to make it into the documentary.

Investigators also reportedly followed Estrella and Jaime to the Sheraton Santiago Hotel and Convention Center in Chile, where they met Parived. The encounter became part of the wider investigation into their alleged business connections. By that point, authorities had spent considerable time monitoring communications and gathering information about the suspected network. Their investigation eventually reached a major turning point in January 2023, when police carried out more than 30 search warrants at residential properties and commercial establishments across Chile.

Estrella's shop was among the locations searched, and she was subsequently arrested. On 1 February 2023, she was formally charged with money laundering, criminal association, receiving goods through customs-related offences and smuggling.

Jaime was arrested separately the following day and appeared before the court. Prosecutors charged him with illicit association, receiving stolen goods, smuggling, customs fraud, money laundering and tax evasion. The court subsequently ordered him to remain in pretrial detention while the investigation continued.

The legal situation did not immediately improve for Jaime. His defence challenged the preventive detention order, seeking to have the decision overturned. However, the Appellate Court rejected the appeal on 13 February 2023, meaning he remained in custody at that stage. Prosecutors continued investigating the alleged network, with Jaime increasingly regarded by the authorities as Estrella's right-hand man. That description, however, reflected the prosecution's position rather than a final determination of his guilt.

Another significant development arrived in March 2025, when prosecutors formally closed the investigation and began preparing the case against those accused. According to reports surrounding the proceedings, the Western Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office identified Estrella and Jaime as two of the principal figures allegedly responsible for maintaining the operation involving the purchase and sale of stolen luxury goods. Prosecutors subsequently announced their intention to bring both individuals before an oral criminal trial.

By April 2025, the prosecution had submitted its accusation against the pair to the court, setting out the allegations and proposed penalties. The development marked an important step in a case that had attracted considerable attention since the initial investigation. However, it is important to distinguish between being formally accused and being convicted. Jaime has not been established as guilty of the charges simply because prosecutors have presented their case, and the allegations should not be treated as a final court judgment.

The documentary also provides some background about Estrella's previous legal history. During her interview, she discussed an earlier conviction involving robbery with intimidation and receiving stolen property, which was unrelated to the specific allegations examined in the Watches Case. She stated that she had served approximately a year at Rancagua Prison in Chile before completing her sentence. Her account adds another layer to the documentary's examination of the people connected to the investigation, although the central focus remains the alleged luxury goods network.

So, where is Jaime Quiroz now? As of November 2026, publicly available information in the account presented here does not establish his current whereabouts, employment or day-to-day activities.

There is also no confirmed information showing that he has returned to public life or become involved in any new business ventures. He appears to be keeping a low profile, with little reliable information about his personal circumstances emerging since the investigation moved towards the trial stage. For now, his current situation remains unclear, and any suggestion about his private life would be speculation.

There is something particularly interesting about the way this case has developed. What initially appeared to be an investigation into stolen luxury watches eventually grew into a much wider examination of international suppliers, local intermediaries, wealthy customers and financial transactions.

Netflix's documentary gives viewers an opportunity to understand how investigators pieced together the alleged network, while also hearing from people directly connected to the story. Jaime's interview is especially relevant because it offers his perspective rather than leaving the audience with only the authorities' version of events.

In my opinion, the most fascinating part of the Watches Case is not the price of the watches or the famous names connected to it, but how an alleged network could operate across international borders while involving so many different people. Jaime Quiroz's position in the investigation raises interesting questions about the responsibilities of local associates and how investigators establish connections between individuals.

However, a documentary should never replace the legal process, particularly when allegations are still being examined in court. It is also worth remembering that being mentioned in a major investigation does not automatically establish guilt. High End: The Watch Theft Ring succeeds in making a complicated case accessible without requiring viewers to become experts in Chilean law. Ultimately, the unanswered questions surrounding Jaime make his story worth following.

As the legal proceedings continue to shape the wider story, Jaime Quiroz remains one of the people viewers are likely to search for after watching High End: The Watch Theft Ring. His current whereabouts have not been reliably established, but his connection to Estrella Dinamarca and the investigation remains an important part of the documentary.
