Clara Satchell-Silva has moved well beyond her time in The Great British Baking Show, turning a hobby that began as a creative escape into a growing cake-decoration career while also building a new life with her husband, Kieran. Since appearing in Season 17, the Portuguese-born baker has kept busy with custom cakes, celebrations, travel, football trips and, naturally, plenty of dog-related adventures.
Rather than disappearing after the cameras stopped rolling, Clara has continued developing her skills as a cake decorator. Her approach remains recognisable: colourful designs, carefully considered presentation and flavours that reflect her Portuguese background. She has spoken about the importance of making food look appealing because, in her view, people effectively eat with their eyes first. Fair enough — a beautifully decorated cake does have a rather unfair advantage over one that looks as though it lost an argument with a mixing bowl.
Clara’s path into baking was not exactly the obvious one. She was born in Aveiro, Portugal, but moved to the UK at 18 to continue her education. She studied Marketing with Digital Communications at the University of Hertfordshire, graduating in September 2022. During university, however, another creative side of her personality was already becoming difficult to ignore.
She joined the university’s cheerleading team and eventually became captain of the Siren’s cheerleading team in November 2021. Earlier that year, she and her teammates won the National Future Cheer Championship in July. So, long before she was decorating cakes for an audience, Clara was already comfortable with performance, precision and spending an alarming amount of time making sure everything looked exactly right.
Her relationship with baking developed later. In December 2024, Clara began baking more seriously as a creative outlet, initially making Portuguese-inspired treats for her partner and his family. What started as something personal soon became a way for her to reconnect with her heritage while experimenting with decoration and design.
Social media then gave Clara somewhere to put all those cakes. She began sharing photographs and videos of her work on Instagram and Facebook, gradually building an audience around her creations. Her Instagram following has grown to more than 1.8K, while her Facebook community has reached around 1.6K followers.
Clara also began accepting cake requests, initially asking people to cover only the cost of ingredients. Her work has since expanded to include cakes for birthdays and other personal occasions, while she continues to share recipes and creations with her online community. In July 2026, she reached another milestone when she had the opportunity to bake a cake for the Groundswell Festival, giving her decorating work an outing beyond the usual birthday-cake territory.
Her life outside the kitchen is just as busy. Clara regularly spends time with her dogs, Juno and Gigi, and her pygmy hedgehog, Pecan. Juno even picked up second place in the Best Crossbreed Category at a dog show in September 2026. Clearly, competitive baking was not enough competition for this household; apparently the pets needed their own trophies too.
Clara has also had a major personal milestone since her time on the baking show. She and Kieran Satchell became engaged in November 2025 after he proposed during a visit to the Langdale Chase Hotel overlooking Lake Windermere. The couple later travelled to France in February 2026, including a trip to Lake Annecy, before getting married near Lake Windermere in July 2026 surrounded by family and friends.
The couple appear to enjoy a fairly down-to-earth life together despite Clara’s growing online presence. Their shared activities include dates, visits to pastry shops and trips to football stadiums, while Kieran sometimes helps behind the scenes with Clara’s social media videos. It is perhaps the least glamorous part of becoming a content creator: someone has to hold the camera while the cake gets all the attention.
Clara’s connection to Portugal has remained important, too. Although she has established herself in Britain, she continues to return to the country whenever she can. Her travels with Kieran have also taken them elsewhere, including Croatia, Italy and Cyprus, with trips to Bakar and Opatija in 2022, Trieste in 2023 and Ayia Napa in 2025.
There is also a strong sense of community around Clara’s life after the show. She has maintained friendships with fellow contestants and appears to have carried the sociable side of her personality from the baking tent into everyday life. Her faith is another part of her identity, providing a personal source of guidance as she moves through different stages of her life.
From a career perspective, Clara’s post-show story is particularly interesting because she has not simply tried to turn television exposure into another conventional media career. Instead, she has gradually built something around a skill she discovered later in life. Her marketing degree has not gone to waste either: running social accounts, presenting cakes visually and attracting customers all require some of the same communication instincts she studied at university.
There is something refreshingly ordinary about Clara’s journey after The Great British Baking Show. Television gave viewers a glimpse of her baking ability, but her life afterwards has been less about chasing another spotlight and more about figuring out what she genuinely enjoys. She has turned Portuguese recipes, colourful decoration and homemade cakes into a small creative business while getting married, travelling, looking after three very different pets and finding time for football. That is quite a workload for someone who presumably still has to wash the mixing bowls.
My view is that Clara’s post-Great British Baking Show story works precisely because it does not depend on one giant career move. There is no need for a dramatic reinvention when the more interesting development is watching a hobby become a genuine creative pursuit. Her marketing background, cheerleading experience and Portuguese heritage all seem to feed into the way she presents her cakes today, giving the decorating side of her work a personality rather than making it feel like another generic baking account.
The fact that she started baking seriously in late 2024 and was already working on an event cake by July 2026 shows how quickly a personal interest can develop when someone keeps experimenting. At the same time, her marriage to Kieran, trips abroad and life with Juno, Gigi and Pecan make the story feel broader than television. She seems to have found a rhythm that combines creativity with ordinary happiness, which is arguably more sustainable than constantly trying to recreate the excitement of being on a baking competition.
So, where is Clara Satchell-Silva now? She is continuing to build her identity as a cake decorator, sharing her work online, taking on occasions and events, staying connected to her Portuguese roots and enjoying married life with Kieran. Her time on The Great British Baking Show may have introduced her to a much wider audience, but the story since then has largely been hers to shape.
