The Ordinary Jackpot Episode 7 turns a 3 billion won purchase-order mistake into a surprisingly successful sales stunt, only for Eun-tae to discover that his latest victory has landed him in an even trickier situation. With a missing employee, office rumours, a disgruntled actress and an internal corruption investigation all piling up, Eun-tae has plenty to deal with — and apparently three days is considered a perfectly reasonable amount of time to clean up a financial mess.
The episode opens with Eun-tae having a meal with Hae-joo, where their conversation touches on actress Yoo Ji-hyun, who recently filmed an advert for Laknes. Her divorce, however, has created uncertainty over whether the campaign can actually be released. In the corporate world, apparently even a pair of shoes can become complicated once paperwork and public image enter the room.
Meanwhile, Jun-ho meets Team Leader Son over coffee and asks him to support Ji-hye, a contract worker facing difficulties inside the company. Son acknowledges Jun-ho's ability to handle internal matters but tells him to look beyond individual problems and pay attention to the company's larger issues.
That warning becomes rather timely.
A new crisis hits Team 5 when they realise a purchase order intended to cover 300 million won worth of Laknes products has been entered as 3 billion won. The obvious person to ask about the error is Gi-tae, but there is one small problem: nobody can find him.
Eun-tae asks Ji-hye and Jun-ho to track him down, but Jun-ho instead asks to accompany Eun-tae to a meeting with Deputy Director Jang. The pair explain the situation and Eun-tae asks for three days to resolve it. Jang agrees, leaving them with a rather uncomfortable countdown.
While Ji-hye and Hyang-eun head out to search for Gi-tae, Hyang-eun also fills Ji-hye in on the rumours circulating around the office. The episode continues to show how quickly workplace gossip can travel, particularly when nobody seems to have enough actual work to do.
Eun-tae and Jun-ho then start working through their options. Their suspicion is that Laknes realised the purchase order was wrong but chose not to flag it. Rather than simply accepting defeat, they look for a way to turn the oversized order into an opportunity.
Their answer is Hongsung International's upcoming shoe boutique expansion.
The pair speak with Laknes director Kim Hyeong-chan, with Eun-tae taking a calculated gamble. He claims the 3 billion won order was intentional and explains that the company planned to stock Laknes products across 40 new boutique locations. The only mistake, he says, was that the price negotiation should have happened before the order was submitted.
It's a risky story, but Eun-tae has another angle. Because the products were ordered in bulk, he asks Laknes to lower the price. Jun-ho's earlier strategy was simple: make Laknes feel responsible for taking advantage of the situation and use that pressure to negotiate.
Kim initially agrees to reduce the amount to 2 billion won. Jun-ho pushes again, asking for 1.5 billion won for this particular order. Remarkably, Kim accepts.
At the same time, Gi-tae is not sitting around waiting to be found. He has been trying to repair the situation himself, securing permission from port authorities to keep the cargo at the dock without additional charges for two weeks.
Just as he is leaving, Hyang-eun and Ji-hye finally catch up with him.
Gi-tae admits that he was attempting to solve the problem before telling anyone. Hyang-eun gives him Eun-tae's message, explaining that Eun-tae is prepared to take responsibility for the incident. She also makes the obvious point that Gi-tae should have trusted his superior enough to report the mistake immediately rather than disappearing on a solo rescue mission.
The episode then returns to Yoo Ji-hyun's modelling contract. Jun-ho takes the paperwork to Hae-joo and asks her to approve it quickly, while Eun-tae visits Ji-hyun herself. She assumes he has arrived to cancel the deal, but he has another plan.
The revised contract changes the morality clause, making both sides responsible rather than placing the entire burden on the actress. Ji-hyun accepts the new terms and agrees to attend her divorce hearing wearing Laknes shoes.
It turns out to be an unexpectedly effective bit of marketing.
Ji-hyun arrives at court in Laknes heels, photographers capture the moment and the images spread rapidly. Interest in the shoes follows, with customers rushing to buy them. Hongsung International's sales reportedly jump by 1,400%.
For once, a corporate disaster has somehow turned into a marketing campaign without anyone having to pretend it was planned from the beginning.
The celebration does not last long. Deputy Director Jang calls Eun-tae and tells him that the executive director wants to meet him. Instead of receiving congratulations, Eun-tae is handed an audit report concerning Sales Team 2.
The executive director wants Eun-tae to help the Audit Team investigate an alleged corruption case involving the department. Eun-tae objects, but the executive director challenges him to go ahead and put himself on the line, clearly referencing Eun-tae's increasingly bold approach to problems.
The assignment changes the mood of the episode. Until now, Eun-tae has largely been dealing with problems that can be solved through negotiation, improvisation or a suspiciously well-timed marketing opportunity. This one is different. An internal corruption investigation could affect careers, reputations and the company's power structure.
Eun-tae later meets Hyang-eun at a cafe and tells her that he needs her help. Their conversation also brings the rumours about Hyang-eun's past in China back into focus.
Rather than believing the rumours, Eun-tae tells her that he thinks Hyang-eun was a whistleblower in that situation. He believes her experience makes her particularly suited to understand what he is about to face. It is also a significant moment between the two because Eun-tae is not simply asking her to help with paperwork. He is acknowledging that she has already dealt with the kind of pressure he is now being asked to confront.
The episode's final flashback takes viewers back two months to China, where Hyang-eun's boss questions whether she is genuinely prepared for the consequences of becoming a whistleblower. He accuses her of knowing what was happening and choosing to ignore it.
Hyang-eun pushes back angrily. She says that work is all she has and that she could not allow it to become something she considered meaningless or shameful.
That flashback gives the episode's final moments more weight. Hyang-eun's past is not simply office gossip or background drama; it explains why Eun-tae sees her as someone who understands the cost of challenging the people around her.
My take on Episode 7 is that The Ordinary Jackpot is at its most entertaining when it treats workplace problems like absurd puzzles that somehow have practical solutions. The 3 billion won mistake is ridiculous on paper, yet the episode makes the recovery satisfying because Eun-tae and Jun-ho do not magically erase the problem.
They negotiate, bluff and use Laknes' own position against it. The Yoo Ji-hyun storyline is even more enjoyable because the supposed crisis becomes free publicity, while the 1,400% sales increase is the kind of wonderfully exaggerated drama logic that somehow fits the show's tone.
More importantly, the episode quietly moves Eun-tae into much more dangerous territory. The audit investigation gives him a problem that cannot simply be solved with clever sales tactics. Hyang-eun's flashback also adds useful context without overpowering the main story. Overall, Episode 7 balances workplace comedy with a more serious corporate mystery, and that combination gives the drama plenty to work with going forward.
The The Ordinary Jackpot Episode 7 ending leaves Eun-tae facing an investigation that could expose problems far bigger than a wrongly entered purchase order, while Hyang-eun's past suggests she may be crucial to what comes next. With Sales Team 2 now under scrutiny, the next episode could reveal just how deep the problem goes.
