It gives a fan-favourite character her own investigation, Chicago setting, military background and personal edge, while mixing mystery, crime, conspiracy and hard-edged detective work.
Naturally, that has sent viewers searching for the best shows like Neagley, particularly series featuring highly capable investigators, former military operatives, complicated conspiracies and protagonists who would rather solve the problem themselves than attend another meeting about it. Maria Sten brings enough personality and restraint to make Frances Neagley feel like a lead rather than a character promoted because viewers complained loudly enough. The Chicago setting also gives the story a welcome identity of its own, while the military history adds believable weight to her investigative abilities.
For me, the closest matches are Reacher, The Terminal List, Tracker, The Old Man and The Night Agent because they understand the same basic recipe: a capable protagonist, a suspicious situation, a larger conspiracy and absolutely no interest in leaving things alone. The best alternatives do not copy Neagley scene for scene, either. They capture its attitude, investigative momentum and slightly ridiculous pleasure of watching someone exceptionally competent make everyone else's job harder.
