| Much About Love Filming Locations: Where Was the Hallmark Romance Shot? |
Hallmark’s Much About Love was filmed entirely in London, Ontario, with several historic buildings, parks and well-known local venues transformed for the Shakespeare-inspired romantic comedy.
The modern take on William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing follows Bea Bishop, a successful television director who returns to her hometown for a Shakespeare festival. The trip brings her back into contact with Benny Gersten, a former love interest and one-time stage partner from her younger theatre days.
Bea and Benny previously performed together in Romeo and Juliet, but their reunion is far from straightforward. As preparations for the festival get underway, old tensions resurface alongside the unmistakable possibility that their history is not entirely behind them.
The film is directed by Shamim Sarif and uses the world of theatre as a central part of its story, with the festival and its performances providing the backdrop for Bea and Benny’s complicated reunion.
Much About Love was filmed in London, Ontario
Production reportedly began in late April 2026 under the working title Nothing But Love. Filming lasted only a matter of weeks, with the shoot understood to have finished around the middle of May.
The production made extensive use of locations across London, Ontario, adapting real landmarks and businesses to fit the fictional Shakespeare festival at the centre of the film.
The Elsie Perrin Williams Estate, located at 101 Windermere Road, was used for scenes involving the Shakespeare Festival Offices. Meanwhile, the Marienbad Restaurant and Chaucer’s Pub at 122 Carling Street underwent a transformation to become the fictional Ye Olde King’s Tavern.
The historic Grosvenor Lodge at 1017 Western Road also featured in the production, serving as the festival’s Costume Shops. Other scenes were filmed around the Farmers’ Market at Covent Garden Market, while Gibbons Park was used for parts of the festival grounds.
The Shakespeare Festival sequences were also filmed at Storybook Gardens, within Springbank Park, giving the production another distinctive London location for its theatrical setting.
Cast member Gabriel Burrafato, who plays Juan, later reflected positively on his experience working on the film, praising the cast and crew and describing the production as a project filled with warmth, humour and a touch of magic.
Ashley Williams leads the cast as Bea Bishop
Ashley Williams plays Bea Bishop, the accomplished television director whose return home reconnects her with the theatre world she once knew.
Williams has had a long career across television and film. She is known for playing Dani Andropoulos in As the World Turns, Dylan Messinger in Good Morning, Miami and Victoria in How I Met Your Mother. Her other work includes The Jim Gaffigan Show, Something Borrowed, October Kiss, Sister Wife Murder and To Barcelona, with Love.
Away from acting, Williams has also expanded her work behind the camera. She was involved in Hallmark’s Make Her Mark initiative supporting women directors and has directed projects including Circle of Deception and A Nashville Country Christmas, as well as episodes of The Rookie.
Niall Matter plays Bea’s former love Benny Gersten
Niall Matter takes on the role of Benny Gersten, the man from Bea’s past whose return to her life complicates her homecoming.
Matter is familiar to Hallmark viewers through several of his projects and has also appeared in When Calls the Heart, Providence Falls and Falling for Christmas. His wider television and film career includes roles in Primeval: New World, Eureka, Watchmen, The Predator, Remedy, 90210, Melrose Place, Mistresses and Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.
His previous Hallmark work has also given him opportunities to showcase musical elements, including projects such as Country at Heart and A Christmas Together with You.
Who else stars in Much About Love?
Williams and Matter are joined by a substantial supporting cast. Lindura plays Hannah Michaels, while Johnathan Sousa appears as Clay Quinaz.
The rest of the ensemble includes Jennifer Dale as Toni Bishop, Moni Ogunsuyi as Maggie Phillips, Cody Ray Thompson as Don Krohn, Paul Braunstein as Doug Berrie, Gabriel Burrafato as Juan, and Madeline Elliott Kennedy as Joy Tidings.
With its Shakespeare-inspired story, theatre setting and a romance built around two former partners with unfinished history, Much About Love brings together familiar Hallmark faces against a distinctly Canadian backdrop. London, Ontario, does much of the visual work, with its historic estates, parks and city landmarks reshaped to create the world of Bea Bishop’s hometown Shakespeare festival.
