| Auau and Save Take Centre Stage in Mr. Fanboy, the Thai BL Fans Have Been Waiting For. |
The countdown has officially begun for Mr. Fanboy (รักสุดใจนายแฟนบอย), one of the most talked-about Thai BL dramas arriving this year. Long before its premiere, the series has already built impressive momentum thanks to its fresh pairing, entertaining showbiz storyline and behind-the-scenes clips that have convinced fans one thing: the chemistry between Save Worapong Walor and Auau Thanaphum Sestasittikul is doing its job rather well. Sometimes the promotional videos tell viewers everything they need to know before a single episode even airs.
Produced by Domundi TV and Mandee Work, the 12-episode romantic comedy is directed by Kla Nathawat Piyanonpong and is adapted from the popular novel Mr. Fanboy by Littlebbear96.
Blending campus romance, celebrity culture and behind-the-scenes entertainment industry drama, the series aims to deliver something more than the usual fluffy romance. There will certainly be plenty of sweet moments, but don't expect everyone to stay perfect once the cameras start rolling.
The series is officially scheduled to premiere on 29 August 2026, making it one of the biggest late-summer BL releases in Thailand. Fans have spent months waiting for confirmation, and now that the release date is locked in, social media has shifted from asking "When is it coming?" to "Can time move a little faster, please?"
At the heart of the story is Wan, played by Save Worapong Walor, an ordinary university student with a not-so-ordinary hobby. Whenever he has free time, he follows and photographs rising celebrity Nine, whom he absolutely admires.
Fate unexpectedly hands Wan an opportunity to audition for a supporting role in a new BL series starring his favourite actor. It sounds like every fan's dream—right up until reality decides to rewrite the script.

After successfully passing the audition, Wan finds himself working alongside Third, portrayed by Auau Thanaphum Sestasittikul. Third is confident, sarcastic and never misses an opportunity to get under Wan's skin.
Their first meetings are filled with arguments, awkward encounters and enough stubbornness to power an entire television studio. Yet, as they continue filming together, the tension slowly transforms into something neither of them expected.
Meanwhile, James Supamongkon Wongwisut plays Nine, the charming celebrity everyone seems to adore. To Wan, Nine has always represented perfection.
However, stepping behind the curtain of the entertainment industry reveals a far more complicated picture. The polished public image begins to crack, exposing uncomfortable truths that challenge everything Wan believed about his idol.
Supporting the main trio are Ryujin Tinnapat Tusnytraitep as Renji, alongside Patji Chirachart Buspavanich, Judy Charukitt Srisawat, and Jur Vasin Traiprakhong, all helping to expand the colourful world surrounding the television production and its complicated relationships.
The story cleverly balances light-hearted comedy with more serious observations about celebrity culture. Behind the romantic misunderstandings lies a sharp look at the business of fame, carefully managed public images and the pressures surrounding popular on-screen pairings.
It gently reminds viewers that sometimes the brightest spotlight casts the longest shadows. Fame may look glamorous from the front row, but backstage tells a rather different story.
Director Kla Nathawat Piyanonpong appears determined to present more than another campus romance. Instead, Mr. Fanboy explores what happens when admiration collides with reality and asks whether genuine love can survive inside an industry built around appearances.

Speaking about the series, Save Worapong Walor shared, "Wan is someone many people can relate to because he loves his idol with complete sincerity. But as his journey continues, he learns that real life is much more complicated than the fantasy he imagined. I hope viewers laugh, smile and grow alongside him."
Co-star Auau Thanaphum Sestasittikul added, "Third may seem arrogant at first, but there's much more beneath his confidence. Watching him slowly open his heart to Wan was one of my favourite parts of filming. I think audiences will enjoy discovering who he really is."
Meanwhile, James Supamongkon Wongwisut teased viewers without revealing too much. "Nine isn't exactly what everyone expects. He's charming, successful and admired by many people, but every character has layers. I hope audiences keep watching before making up their minds."
Beyond the romance, viewers can expect a classic enemies-to-lovers journey filled with witty exchanges, awkward misunderstandings, emotional growth and plenty of heart-fluttering moments.
Early behind-the-scenes footage has already showcased bright visuals, playful interactions and convincing chemistry between Auau and Save, leaving many fans optimistic that the pair could become one of Domundi's most popular new on-screen couples.
International viewers will also have a straightforward way to join the excitement. Mr. Fanboy will air first on Thailand's One 31 television channel before becoming available worldwide through iQIYI, where English subtitles are expected to be provided for international audiences.
Additional streaming services have not yet been confirmed, although further platform announcements are expected closer to the premiere as international distribution expands.
Online reactions have been varied but overwhelmingly enthusiastic. Many BL fans are especially excited to watch the fresh pairing of Auau and Save, saying the two already display natural chemistry even in promotional clips. Others are looking forward to the show's entertainment industry setting, believing it offers something slightly different from the familiar university romances that continue to dominate the genre.
Some readers of the original novel are cautiously optimistic, hoping the adaptation faithfully captures both the humour and emotional complexity of the source material. Naturally, there are also fans joking that they'll spend every Saturday pretending they have no responsibilities once the series starts.
With an appealing cast, a promising adaptation, an experienced creative team and a story mixing romance, comedy and showbiz secrets, Mr. Fanboy arrives carrying plenty of expectations. Whether it becomes the next breakout Thai BL phenomenon remains to be seen, but it certainly has everyone's attention before its first episode has even aired. Will Wan discover that his real soulmate was never the celebrity he admired from afar? Or will the biggest surprise come from the person he couldn't stand?
