Flex X Cop Season 2 is still airing, but fans are already looking beyond the current 14-episode run and asking whether Flex X Cop Season 3 could be next. The second season only premiered on August 7, 2026, so there is no official renewal yet, but the conversation has started for a simple reason: the drama has plenty of room to keep Jin Yi-soo solving cases with money, connections and an almost offensive amount of confidence. Whether SBS and the production team decide that is enough reason to keep the franchise going will depend largely on how Season 2 performs.
The ongoing second season has also changed the formula enough to make a third run feel possible rather than completely repetitive. Ahn Bo-hyun returns as Yi-soo, now a properly trained and certified detective rather than the wealthy amateur who stumbled into police work.
His new partnership with Jung Eun-chae’s Joo Hye-ra gives the series another source of conflict, particularly because she knows exactly how to deal with his extravagant methods and has little patience for his tendency to treat his fortune like a police-issued superpower.
There is no shortage of material for another season, either. Season 2 has already expanded the story into high-society conspiracies, powerful figures and dangerous cases, while the central team has plenty of unresolved potential. That does not mean Season 3 is guaranteed, of course. Korean dramas are notoriously capable of giving viewers something they love and then politely suggesting everyone move on to another project.
Has Flex X Cop been renewed for Season 3? No, Flex X Cop Season 3 has not been officially renewed at the time of writing. The reason is fairly straightforward: Season 2 has only just begun its broadcast run, with the production team currently waiting to see how audiences respond to the new storyline, characters and team dynamic.
That makes any firm prediction about Season 3 premature. Ratings, audience response and the international performance of the drama will all matter, particularly because the second season has the difficult job of following a popular first instalment while also introducing a noticeably different central dynamic. If viewers continue turning up for Yi-soo's latest investigation, however, the pressure to continue the franchise could become difficult to ignore.
The show's popularity has certainly given fans something to argue about. Some viewers see the second season as proof that the concept still has plenty of life left, particularly now that Yi-soo has completed his formal police training.
Others are more cautious and feel that the original charm came from watching an inexperienced chaebol suddenly trying to function as a detective. Season 2 has to prove that making him more competent does not make him less entertaining.
The biggest reason for FLEX X COP Season 3 discussion is Jin Yi-soo himself. His transformation from privileged troublemaker to legitimate detective creates an obvious next step for the character. He can no longer rely solely on being the eccentric rich man who somehow gets involved in police cases. Now he has to prove that he can actually operate as an investigator while still being, well, Jin Yi-soo.
That creates plenty of opportunities for the drama to push his two worlds together. His police career and his responsibilities as a member of a powerful corporate family are naturally incompatible at times, and a third season could make that contradiction even more central.
One day he could be sitting through an important corporate meeting and the next he could be chasing a suspect because somebody has decided that running away from the police is a sensible career choice.
Fans' reactions to the possibility of another season vary. Some are already demanding more of Yi-soo and the team, particularly because the chemistry between the characters remains one of the drama's strongest assets.
Others want to see how far Season 2 takes the new cast dynamic before deciding whether another season is necessary. There is also the inevitable group that simply wants more of Ahn Bo-hyun arriving at crime scenes in increasingly ridiculous fashion, which is perhaps the most straightforward argument for renewal.
What could happen in Flex X Cop Season 3? If the drama gets another season, the story could take Jin Yi-soo into an even more complicated version of his double life. By then, he could be considerably more experienced as a detective while simultaneously being pushed towards greater responsibility within his family's business empire.
That would create exactly the sort of ridiculous situation the series handles well: Yi-soo trying to balance boardroom politics with police investigations, while somehow believing that having a helicopter is a perfectly reasonable solution to every logistical problem.
FLEX X COP Season 3 could also explore whether Yi-soo has genuinely changed. Becoming a professional detective is one thing, but learning to work within a system that cannot simply be bypassed with money is another.
His wealth remains useful, but the drama could increasingly challenge him to solve cases through judgement, teamwork and actual police work rather than treating his bank account as a universal cheat code.
The relationship between Yi-soo and Joo Hye-ra would naturally be another major part of the story. Season 2 establishes Hye-ra as a strict, disciplined figure who has little interest in indulging Yi-soo's showmanship.
A FLEX X COP Season 3 could show their relationship evolving from constant friction into a genuinely effective partnership. Hye-ra could learn when Yi-soo's unconventional approach is useful, while Yi-soo could finally absorb some of her discipline instead of treating every rule as a personal suggestion.
That would also allow the writers to keep the comedy without making their arguments feel repetitive. Instead of having Hye-ra simply tell Yi-soo off every time he does something outrageous, the two could begin anticipating each other's moves.
Imagine Hye-ra realising Yi-soo is about to do something ridiculous and deciding to use it strategically rather than stopping him. That could turn their biggest personality clash into one of the team's greatest strengths.
FLEX X COP Season 3 could introduce an even bigger criminal threat
The second season already raises the scale with wealthy and influential figures operating around major investigations. A third season could push that idea further by introducing criminals whose reach extends beyond a single city or organisation.
The obvious direction would be a sophisticated corporate crime network, international financial operation or powerful group capable of making ordinary police procedures extremely difficult.
That would give Yi-soo a reason to use his business connections in a way that actually serves the investigation, rather than simply allowing him to show off another expensive toy.
The series could also play with the uncomfortable question of what happens when Yi-soo encounters someone with the same resources he has. Season 2's Yoo Seong-won already creates the possibility of a villain who can match Yi-soo's social and financial power. FLEX X COP Season 3 could take that concept further with an opponent who understands the same elite world but uses it far more strategically.
That would make the conflict more personal without requiring the story to abandon its crime-comedy foundation. Yi-soo would not simply be chasing another criminal. He could be dealing with someone who understands exactly how privileged people avoid consequences and knows how to turn those same systems against him.
What happens to the Violent Crimes Unit in Season 3?
The supporting team should have plenty to do if another season happens. Park Jun-young, played by Kang Sang-jun, remains the dependable senior detective who can keep the unit functioning when Yi-soo's latest idea threatens to send everyone into chaos. A third season could give him greater authority and allow him to become more of a leader rather than simply the sensible person standing nearby while Yi-soo does something outrageous.
Choi Kyung-jin, played by Kim Shin-bi, could also receive a bigger character arc. The enthusiastic young detective has spent much of his time admiring Yi-soo's lifestyle, but Season 3 could finally show him developing into a more confident investigator.
Watching him go from starstruck rookie to capable detective would give the ensemble a useful progression instead of leaving him permanently stuck in the role of the team's biggest Yi-soo fan.
Then there is Choi Jeong-hoon, played by Kim Myung-soo, Yi-soo's fiercely loyal assistant and father figure. His role could become increasingly important if Yi-soo's corporate responsibilities begin colliding with his police career. Someone has to keep the chaebol detective's personal and professional worlds from collapsing, after all, and unfortunately for Jeong-hoon, that person is usually him.
Could the Season 2 cast return for Season 3?
If Season 3 is approved, Ahn Bo-hyun would be the essential returnee as Jin Yi-soo. The franchise is built around his character, so continuing without him would fundamentally change what Flex X Cop is.
Jung Eun-chae would also be a natural candidate to return as Joo Hye-ra, assuming her Season 2 storyline leaves the character in a position to continue. Her arrival gives the second season a new energy, and removing that relationship from a potential third season would mean throwing away one of the most useful pieces of the current format.
Kang Sang-jun, Kim Shin-bi and Kim Myung-soo would also be expected back if the existing Violent Crimes Unit remains intact. Their characters provide the balance that keeps the drama from becoming nothing more than Yi-soo and his latest wealthy enemy shouting across expensive rooms at each other.
As for Yoo Seung-ho, his future would depend heavily on how Yoo Seong-won's storyline develops during Season 2. As the principal antagonist of the current run, his character is tied closely to this season's central conflict, so his return would be far less certain than the core police team.
When could Flex X Cop Season 3 be released?
There is currently no confirmed release date for Season 3 because the drama has not been renewed. Any date circulating at this stage should therefore be viewed as speculation rather than an announcement.
If SBS does order another season, production would still take time. Scripts would need to be developed, the cast would have to align their schedules, filming would have to take place and post-production would follow.
Considering the gap between the first and second seasons, fans should probably not expect a third season to arrive overnight simply because everyone agrees that Yi-soo deserves another helicopter chase.
A late 2027 or early 2028 release would be a reasonable hypothetical window if renewal happened relatively soon, but that remains an estimate rather than confirmed information. The timing could easily move depending on the actors' schedules and the production team's plans.
The biggest obstacle is not a lack of story ideas. It is scheduling. A drama with a cast led by Ahn Bo-hyun, supported by several established performers and a large production team needs to find enough time for everyone to commit to another run.
There is also the question of whether the second season can maintain strong enough momentum throughout its broadcast. A popular first season does not automatically guarantee that the third will happen. Platform performance, domestic ratings, production costs, cast availability and the writers' plans all become part of the decision.
There is another practical problem: if the second season successfully gives Yi-soo and the new team a satisfying direction, the production team may decide that one more season is worthwhile.
If it wraps the characters' stories neatly, they could instead leave the franchise where it stands. Sometimes the biggest obstacle to another season is simply that everyone has already told the story they wanted to tell.
At the moment, very little is official because Season 3 has not been confirmed. There is no official storyline, production schedule, release date or complete cast announcement.
What can reasonably be predicted is that a third season would need to build on the changes introduced in Season 2 rather than simply recreate the first season. Yi-soo is now a trained detective, Hye-ra has changed the leadership dynamic, and the wider team has more room to develop. That gives the writers a solid foundation if they decide to continue.
The most appealing possibility would be to let Yi-soo become genuinely good at police work without removing the ridiculous personality that made him entertaining in the first place. He should be smarter, more experienced and more responsible, but ideally still the sort of man who thinks spending a fortune is a perfectly sensible response to a minor inconvenience.
Will Flex X Cop get Season 3?
Right now, the answer is still unknown. There has been no official renewal announcement, and because Season 2 is only beginning its run, it is far too early to treat a third season as a certainty.
Still, the possibility is there. The franchise has an established lead, a flexible crime-comedy format and a team that can generate stories beyond the current season. If viewers continue supporting the drama and the second season maintains strong momentum, the argument for another run becomes considerably stronger.
For now, fans will have to wait and see whether Jin Yi-soo gets another badge, another impossible case and, presumably, another wildly expensive way of solving a problem that could have been handled with a normal phone call.
Flex X Cop Season 2 still has plenty of story left to tell, so the Season 3 conversation is happening earlier than usual, but that is hardly surprising when viewers have become attached to Yi-soo's chaotic approach to detective work. The second season also has the advantage of introducing Joo Hye-ra, whose strict personality gives the series a fresh source of tension instead of simply repeating the first season's formula.
Whether that momentum turns into a renewal will depend on the audience, the ratings and the production team's willingness to bring everyone together again. For now, there is no official Season 3, but there is certainly enough material to make one work.
