Death Inc. has officially closed its doors with Season 4, but judging by the reaction from viewers, plenty of fans are still standing outside hoping someone forgot to lock up. Netflix has billed the fourth season as the definitive ending to the acclaimed Spanish dark comedy, yet the finale has sparked fresh debate over whether the chaotic world of the Torregrosa Funeral Home could somehow find a way back for Season 5. Officially, the answer is no. Unofficially, fans are already writing the next chapter in their heads.

The six-episode fourth season arrives as the series' farewell outing, wrapping up the long-running battle for control of the family-run funeral business. The final episodes bring the power struggle between Dámaso, Chemi, Nieves and the rest of the eccentric staff to its conclusion, delivering the sharp workplace satire and dark humour that made the series a standout favourite.

By the closing moments, the story offers the kind of ending viewers usually expect from a final season. Major character arcs reach their destination, lingering rivalries are resolved and the future of the Torregrosa Funeral Home is finally decided.

It feels conclusive, but not so airtight that fans haven't started wondering whether another surprise chapter could still emerge one day. Television has taught audiences one thing over the years: "final" occasionally comes with an asterisk.

That has naturally led to one big question circulating online. Has Death Inc. been renewed for Season 5? At the time of writing, the answer is straightforward. Death Inc. has not been renewed for Season 5

Both Netflix and Movistar Plus+ have already confirmed that Season 4 was designed as the series' final instalment, bringing the story to a planned conclusion rather than leaving it hanging in search of another renewal.

Unlike many dramas that quietly disappear without an official decision, Death Inc. was created with an ending in mind. That means there are currently no production schedules, casting announcements or filming plans for a fifth season, and no expected release window has been discussed.

Even so, that hasn't stopped speculation. The final episodes leave viewers feeling satisfied while also reminding them why they enjoyed spending time with these gloriously dysfunctional characters.

It is less about unanswered plot points and more about audiences simply wanting another excuse to watch this wonderfully chaotic workplace collapse into fresh disaster. Apparently one funeral home can generate an endless supply of office politics.

Fan reactions have been all over the place since the finale landed. Many viewers have praised Netflix for allowing the creative team to end the story on its own terms instead of stretching the series beyond its natural lifespan.

Others, however, believe the show's unique mix of corporate satire, family rivalry and wonderfully awkward humour still has plenty of life left. Some even argue that the funeral business probably has more job security than most television series these days.

There is also a sizeable group of fans refusing to completely rule out a return in the future. While they acknowledge Season 4 feels like a genuine conclusion, they point out that television history is full of unexpected revivals years after supposedly final endings. For them, hope may not be a strategy, but it remains surprisingly popular.

If Death Inc. were somehow revived despite the current plans, there would certainly be enough material to build another entertaining season.

One possibility would see the Torregrosa Funeral Home attempting to expand into a national franchise. What sounds like a sensible business decision on paper would almost certainly descend into complete organisational chaos once Chemi's ambitious marketing ideas collide with reality.

Opening new branches across Spain could introduce eccentric new employees, regional rivalries and plenty of opportunities for the show's trademark workplace satire.

Another potential direction could introduce a powerful corporate competitor attempting to buy out the family business. Instead of constantly undermining each other, Dámaso, Chemi and Nieves would suddenly find themselves forced into the uncomfortable position of working together.

Watching lifelong rivals cooperate while secretly plotting against one another sounds exactly like the sort of beautiful disaster the series thrives on.

Legal headaches could provide another rich source of comedy. A high-profile administrative mistake involving an important client might trigger a public relations nightmare, leaving the entire team scrambling to protect the company's reputation before everything spirals spectacularly out of control. Given this show's history, the cover-up would almost certainly become worse than the original problem.

Character dynamics could also evolve in amusing ways. After spending years fighting to take charge, Dámaso might finally discover that running the business is considerably less glamorous than complaining about whoever held the job before him.

Meanwhile, Chemi could become convinced he is a visionary entrepreneur, launching questionable digital funeral services or introducing fashionable trends that absolutely nobody requested.

A hypothetical fifth season could even shift attention towards a younger generation of investors or family members eager to modernise the company, forcing the old guard to defend their traditions while reluctantly adapting to an increasingly corporate world. That blend of generational conflict and workplace absurdity would fit comfortably within the series' established style.

Still, all of those possibilities remain exactly that—possibilities. At present, they belong firmly in the realm of imagination rather than production schedules.

The reality is that Death Inc. stands as a completed story. The creative team has delivered the ending they intended, Netflix has presented Season 4 as the definitive finale and there are no official signs suggesting those plans are about to change. While viewers can always dream about another visit to the Torregrosa Funeral Home, the series currently appears to have reached its final curtain.

Of course, television has surprised audiences before, and streaming platforms have occasionally revived shows once thought to be finished forever. But unless that unexpected phone call arrives, Death Inc. looks set to remain one of those rare comedies that knew when to bow out instead of overstaying its welcome.

Would you still like to see Death Inc. return for Season 5, or do you think the series ended at exactly the right moment?
