Liu Xiening’s studio kept its response short and rather wonderfully blunt: “Focused on filming! Single! Do not disturb!” He Yu’s official information account was similarly clear, stating: “Single. Do not disturb.”
It also said that evidence had been collected regarding related fabricated and defamatory content. In other words, both sides appear to have decided that three years of speculation was quite enough.
The latest statements are notable because neither Liu Xiening nor He Yu had previously made such a straightforward public declaration about the long-running speculation.
Instead, the rumour repeatedly resurfaced whenever an old incident, alleged sighting or new piece of online chatter gave fans and entertainment watchers something else to dissect. Apparently, the rumour had discovered the secret to staying employed: simply refusing to disappear.
