The final episode of A Dog and A Plane (หมาเห่าเครื่องบิน) has landed, but the conversation around the Thai BL romantic comedy is far from over. While the series wrapped up its central romance between Kanit and Toto, the ending has fuelled fresh debate over whether there is still enough story left for a second season. Viewers have pointed to lingering possibilities, the chemistry of the cast and the show's growing popularity as reasons why the story could continue, even though there has been no official renewal announcement.
The finale delivered the emotional payoff many fans had been waiting for. After a journey filled with airport chaos, undercover schemes, misunderstandings and unexpected romance, Kanit and Toto finally moved beyond their baggage drama and embraced their relationship.
It was a satisfying conclusion, but not one that completely shut the departure gate on future adventures. Instead, it quietly suggested that life together might be even more unpredictable than falling in love in the first place.
Fans have been split ever since the credits rolled. One group believes the ending worked perfectly as a complete story and would rather see the characters leave on a high note than return for an unnecessary sequel.
Another section of the audience argues that the series has only just scratched the surface of what Kanit and Toto could become as a couple. Judging by discussions across fan communities, plenty of viewers are not ready to check out just yet. After all, airports are full of delayed departures, so perhaps a delayed sequel would be fitting.
Rumours have also added fuel to the speculation. Alleged comments attributed to members of the production team have suggested the story may not necessarily be finished, although nothing concrete has been confirmed.
Some reports have claimed that a follow-up remains possible depending on audience enthusiasm, scheduling and overall feasibility. Other online discussions have suggested that producers are willing to explore every option, whether that involves the original cast or a different creative direction. For now, those comments remain unofficial, meaning fans should treat them as hopeful chatter rather than confirmation.
So, has A Dog and A Plane been renewed for Season 2? The answer is no. As of the time of writing, there has been no official announcement confirming another season.
The series completed its 10-episode run on 31 July 2026, and during the finale fan event, lead stars Tay Tawan and New Thitipoom revealed that they would reunite in an entirely new project instead of returning immediately for another chapter of this story.
That revelation naturally lowered expectations for a sequel. Thai BL dramas, particularly those produced as standalone streaming originals, rarely receive additional seasons unless the original source material continues beyond the first story.
Although recent years have shown that sequels are becoming more common than they once were, they remain the exception rather than the rule. Strong audience support certainly helps, but popularity alone does not automatically secure another season.
Even so, A Dog and A Plane has several factors working in its favour. The romantic comedy steadily built momentum throughout its run, attracting growing attention from domestic audiences while also finding enthusiastic viewers internationally.
Although final viewing figures have yet to be released publicly, its rising popularity suggests there is genuine interest if the production team ever decides to revisit these characters.
Still, a renewal currently appears unlikely. The cast members involved are among the busiest performers in Thailand, with new acting commitments already lined up. Coordinating schedules for another season would not be simple, especially when several actors are moving into fresh productions. Unless the creative team had a compelling story that genuinely justified another outing, there would be little reason to rush back.
If A Dog and A Plane somehow received the green light for Season 2, the focus would naturally shift away from the enemies-to-lovers formula that defined the first season.
Instead, the story would explore what happens after the fairy-tale confession, because staying together is often far messier than falling in love. Nobody warns couples that sharing a flat can be more dangerous than chasing cheating pilots.
The biggest storyline would likely revolve around Kanit and Toto adjusting to everyday life as partners. Kanit's obsession with organisation, spotless surroundings and expensive possessions would constantly clash with Toto's carefree personality and unpredictable rescue work.
Their relationship would move from romantic misunderstandings to ordinary domestic arguments, with plenty of comedy emerging from their completely opposite lifestyles.
Their careers could also become the source of new tension. As an international flight attendant, Kanit spends long periods travelling across different countries, while Toto's demanding role as an emergency medical technician means he can be called into dangerous rescue situations at any moment.
Maintaining a healthy relationship despite conflicting schedules would offer emotional depth while staying true to the workplace themes established in the original series. A Dog and A Plane Season 2 could also revisit the professional fallout surrounding Lion, whose cheating scandal created much of the first season's conflict.
Although Kanit has moved forward emotionally, working in the same aviation industry could continue to create awkward encounters. Meanwhile, Toto might find himself taking on increasingly difficult rescue operations that test both his confidence and his relationship.
Secondary characters would also have room to shine. A continuation could finally give Akki and Weha a much larger storyline, allowing audiences to see how their romance develops outside the shadow of Kanit and Toto's relationship. Expanding their journey would help keep the series fresh while giving returning viewers something new to invest in.
Should A Dog and A Plane Season 2 eventually happen, a release around the middle of 2027 would appear to be the earliest realistic target, following the production timetable typically seen for GMMTV dramas.
A hypothetical returning cast would likely include Tay Tawan Vihokratana, New Thitipoom Techaapaikhun, Mond Tanutchai Wijitvongtong, Ryu Phudtripart Bhudthonamochai, Oabnithi Wiwattanawarang, Tui Chayatorn Trairattanapradit and Ploynira Hiruntaveesin, provided scheduling aligned and the story required their return.
For now, though, the future of A Dog and A Plane remains firmly on the runway rather than in the air. There is enough material to justify another chapter, but the absence of an official renewal and the cast's move towards new projects make a sequel far from certain.
Sometimes a great ending is simply a great ending, even if fans insist on refreshing social media every five minutes hoping somebody accidentally announces A Dog and A Plane Season 2.
Would you like to see A Dog and APlane return for another season, or do you think Kanit and Toto received the perfect ending already?
