The wait for The Spooky Love Tale (เขียนผีให้เธอรัก) is getting even more exciting after fresh production updates gave Thai BL fans plenty to talk about. Originally introduced with a different lead pairing, the upcoming 12-episode horror romantic comedy has now entered a new chapter with Mark Pakin Kuna-anuwit and Ohm Thipakorn Thitathan officially stepping in as the main couple. While the cast shake-up surprised many, anticipation has only continued to grow as viewers look forward to seeing what could become one of GMMTV's standout BL dramas.
Set to air on GMM25 under GMMTV, The Spooky Love Tale blends supernatural mystery, romance and comedy into one delightfully spooky package. Adapted from the popular webtoon The Spooky Love Tale of Gongchan Seol by YSE, the series promises haunted houses, ghostly encounters, awkward flirting and plenty of laughs, proving that sometimes love really does appear when you least expect it... even if it arrives with a ghost standing behind you.
The story follows Chan, a successful horror novelist whose greatest talent is transforming ordinary moments into terrifying ghost stories. The catch? He believes every monster exists only inside his imagination.
That certainty disappears when he meets Min, a mysterious young man whose life seems strangely connected to the supernatural figures Chan has been writing about.
As unexplained events begin piling up around them, Chan starts wondering whether his racing heartbeat comes from falling in love or from the terrifying presence that refuses to leave his side.
Leading the series are Mark Pakin Kuna-anuwit and Ohm Thipakorn Thitathan, a pairing already generating huge excitement among BL fans.
Joining them are supporting cast members Ryu Phudtripart Bhudthonamochai and Mond Tanutchai Wijitvongtong, adding more familiar GMMTV faces to the supernatural romance.
Although Perth Tanapon Sukumpantanasan and Santa Pongsapak Udompoch were originally announced as the leading couple, GMMTV later confirmed changes to both the cast and production plans.
Instead of starring in The Spooky Love Tale, the popular pairing will now headline the new BL drama Heartbound, giving fans another project to look forward to. The announcement initially caught many viewers off guard, but it also sparked curiosity about how Mark and Ohm will interpret the story's unusual mix of romance and horror.
During promotional appearances, the new lead actors have shared their excitement about the project. Mark said he hopes viewers will enjoy "a story that balances laughs, scares and heartfelt moments," adding that the chemistry between the characters develops naturally despite the supernatural chaos surrounding them.
Ohm echoed the enthusiasm, saying he wants audiences to experience "a romance that feels warm even when ghosts are making life difficult," while promising viewers plenty of memorable moments throughout the series.

Fans can also expect the show's behind-the-scenes chemistry to carry over onto the screen. Clips released during promotional activities have already highlighted the comfortable friendship between Mark and Ohm, with plenty of playful interactions that have quickly won over viewers.
If those previews are anything to go by, the ghosts may be frightening, but the main couple look determined to keep stealing the spotlight.
Beyond the romance, The Spooky Love Tale appears to be embracing a refreshing tone rarely seen in supernatural BL dramas. Rather than relying entirely on scares, the series mixes creepy situations with light-hearted comedy, emotional storytelling and quirky character interactions.
One minute viewers may be laughing at Chan's chaotic imagination, while the next they are questioning whether the ghost in the corner is actually part of the plot or simply refusing to leave the set after filming wrapped.
International fans will be pleased to know that the drama is expected to be available with English subtitles when it premieres. The series is scheduled to air first on GMM25, while streaming availability through GMMTV's official online platforms is widely expected to include subtitled episodes for overseas audiences, as with many previous productions.
Additional international streaming partners and regional platforms have not yet been announced, but more distribution details are expected closer to the premiere.
As for the release date, GMMTV has not confirmed an exact premiere day. Current production updates suggest the series is likely to arrive sometime between Q4 2026 and Q1 2027, although fans will have to wait a little longer for an official announcement.
Considering the recent casting changes and production adjustments, many viewers would rather the team take extra time than rush a series that already carries high expectations.
Reactions from fans have been mixed but overwhelmingly enthusiastic. Some admitted they were initially disappointed to see PerthSanta leave the project, especially after months of anticipation.
Others quickly embraced MarkOhm, saying the new pairing brings a different but equally exciting dynamic to the supernatural romance. Meanwhile, plenty of viewers are simply celebrating the fact that both couples now have leading roles in separate BL projects, making it feel less like a cancellation and more like two gifts arriving instead of one.
With ghosts, romance, comedy and a fresh lead pairing, The Spooky Love Tale has all the ingredients to become one of the most talked-about Thai BL dramas of the coming season. Now all that's missing is an official premiere date. Until then, what do you think about the new cast? Are you excited to see Mark and Ohm take on this spooky love story, or were you hoping the original pairing would stay?
