Instead, the finale focuses on trust, survival and personal growth, leaving viewers with a relationship that feels authentic rather than forced. In a television landscape where characters often fall in love simply because they shared three dramatic scenes together, Ride or Die takes the slower, smarter route.
The ending has already sparked lively discussion among fans and netizens. Some viewers believe the chemistry between Jacques and Debbie is one of the show's strongest surprises and are convinced romance is only a matter of time.

It is during this chaotic journey that Jacques Boucher, an experienced Interpol agent, enters Debbie's life. Their first encounter in Monte Carlo appears almost accidental as Debbie searches for information while preparing for an ambitious heist involving a wealthy collector of ancient artefacts.

Naturally, things refuse to stay simple for very long. Jacques quietly follows Debbie back to Judith's location, hoping to understand the bigger picture before the rest of Interpol arrives. Once Collette, Jacques' former wife and fellow Interpol officer, appears with the authorities, tensions rise immediately.
The personal history between Jacques and Collette adds another layer of awkwardness to an already stressful situation. Apparently chasing international fugitives was not dramatic enough on its own.
Faced with impossible choices, Debbie decides to surrender herself to Interpol so Judith and Donnie have an opportunity to escape safely. It is one of the clearest examples of how much she has changed since the opening episode.
The woman who once relied on her husband for direction now willingly sacrifices her own freedom to protect someone she still cares about despite every painful secret that has come to light.
While Debbie spends time in custody, Jacques continues to demonstrate genuine concern rather than cold professionalism. Their conversations become more personal, particularly when he visits her before the risky operation involving the Geneva bank.
These quieter scenes allow both characters to lower their emotional defences. The attraction between them becomes increasingly obvious, yet neither pretends that romance is the most pressing issue in their lives. Escaping criminal conspiracies generally takes priority over awkward flirting.
So, do Jacques and Debbie end up together? The simple answer is no. By the end of Ride or Die Season 1, they do not become a couple, share a dramatic declaration of love or ride off into the sunset together.

Beginning a fresh romance immediately afterwards would probably require emotional energy even fictional characters struggle to find. Meanwhile, Jacques has unfinished business of his own.
His complicated history with Collette remains unresolved, while his professional responsibilities lead him towards a dangerous undercover operation targeting The Agency and its questionable activities.
His investigation opens an entirely new chapter that leaves little room for settling into a comfortable personal relationship, no matter how promising his connection with Debbie may seem.
The finale also gives Debbie something arguably more valuable than romance: independence. Throughout the season, she transforms from someone defined almost entirely by her husband's political ambitions into a woman capable of making difficult decisions for herself.
She rebuilds her friendship with Judith through honesty and forgiveness, gains confidence she never realised she possessed and finally begins shaping her own future instead of living inside someone else's carefully constructed image.
