Instead, the finale has fuelled growing speculation that Tencent Video's hit Chinese drama could return for a second season. With strong ratings, widespread online discussion and an ending that quietly leaves room for more, fans are already treating the finale less like a goodbye and more like an intermission.
Officially, though, there is still no Season 2. At the time of writing, neither the production team nor Tencent Video has announced a renewal for Love Has Fireworks.
That has not stopped the rumour mill from working overtime, especially after reports claimed members of the production team suggested the story may not be completely finished. The message was hardly a confirmation, but it was enough to send fans into detective mode, searching every interview and social media post for hidden clues.
According to reported comments circulating among C-drama communities, a follow-up season remains possible but far from guaranteed.
One alleged crew member reportedly suggested that any continuation would depend on audience support, overall feedback and whether enough public enthusiasm remains once the excitement surrounding the finale settles. In other words, the ball may now be sitting in the fans' court. Or perhaps somewhere between the court and the comment section.
The speculation gained another boost after a well-known Weibo commentator, respected among Chinese drama followers, responded to a fan asking about Love Has Fireworks Season 2 with a simple, "Let's wait and see."
It was hardly earth-shattering news, but in the world of C-drama fandom, four words can sometimes launch thousands of hopeful theories before breakfast.
The optimism is understandable because the finale feels carefully designed to leave future possibilities without forcing an immediate continuation.

Another possibility is expanding the world beyond the central romance. The supporting characters have enough unresolved stories to build fresh conflicts without undoing the satisfying ending viewers already received.
Rather than forcing unnecessary misunderstandings between the main couple, a sequel could focus on new personal journeys while allowing Li Yifei and Qian Fei to remain the emotional anchor of the story.
That approach would preserve everything fans loved instead of pretending the finale never happened simply because another season arrived. Still, there is one major obstacle. Unlike many television markets, Chinese dramas rarely receive direct second seasons featuring the same cast and continuing storyline.
While recent years have seen a handful of exceptions, productions often conclude after one complete run before actors move on to new projects. Scheduling alone can become a challenge, especially when stars such as Tan Jianci and Wang Churan already have busy filming calendars.
For now, industry watchers remain cautious despite the optimism. Strong ratings and passionate audiences certainly improve the chances, but they do not guarantee another season.
