Enola Holmes 3 may have wrapped up its biggest mystery yet, but it also quietly opened the door to another adventure that fans are already trying to piece together. While Netflix has yet to officially announce Enola Holmes 4, the ending leaves enough unanswered questions to keep speculation alive. If history repeats itself, viewers may need plenty of patience because this detective seems to solve cases much faster than Netflix confirms sequels.
The third film raises the stakes by sending Enola Holmes, played by Millie Bobby Brown, into a dangerous mission after Sherlock Holmes mysteriously disappears. Her investigation eventually leads back to Moriarty, forcing Enola to uncover a hidden treasure linked to Tewkesbury's family while racing against time to rescue her brother.
By the final act, every major mystery is resolved, Moriarty is defeated once again, and Enola marries Tewkesbury, who has given up his aristocratic title to begin a simpler life beside her. That happy ending naturally raises the biggest question heading into a possible fourth film. Will marriage slow down Britain's youngest detective?
Judging by everything audiences have seen across the franchise so far, that seems highly unlikely. If anything, Enola has a habit of attracting mysteries wherever she goes, almost as if trouble has her address saved permanently.
Although Netflix has remained silent about another sequel, that is nothing unusual for the franchise. Enola Holmes 3 itself was only confirmed around two years after the second film arrived, meaning another lengthy wait would not come as a surprise.
If a fourth instalment receives the green light within a similar production timeline, a release sometime in 2028 currently appears to be the most realistic expectation. Story-wise, there is certainly no shortage of possibilities.
The film series is based on Nancy Springer's bestselling novels, with only a fraction of the available books adapted so far. At the same time, the screenwriters have never been afraid to introduce entirely original mysteries alongside material inspired by the books.

If production moves ahead, audiences can reasonably expect the core cast to return. Millie Bobby Brown would almost certainly reprise her role as Enola, alongside Louis Partridge as Tewkesbury. Henry Cavill is also expected to return as Sherlock Holmes, with Helena Bonham Carter back as Eudoria Holmes and Himesh Patel continuing as Dr John Watson.
Familiar faces such as Susan Wokoma and Hattie Morahan could also return as their stories continue to intertwine with Enola's investigations. There is also unfinished business with Moriarty. Although she ends the third film back behind bars, she makes it abundantly clear that prison is more of an inconvenience than a retirement plan.
That leaves the door wide open for Sharon Duncan-Brewster to return once again as Enola's most dangerous rival, though a completely new villain could emerge to challenge the detective in unexpected ways.
Meanwhile, new characters are almost guaranteed to join the growing universe. Every Enola Holmes story introduces fresh suspects, allies and enemies, and a fourth adventure would likely continue that tradition.
Whether the next mystery centres on political intrigue, hidden family secrets or another international conspiracy, the franchise has plenty of directions it could explore without repeating itself.
