C-netz spent days connecting dots, drawing lines, and building theories, but TF Entertainment has now made its position crystal clear. The company has officially denied rumours linking young singer and actor Mu Zhicheng with actress Song Xiaoyingzi, dismissing the widely discussed relationship claims as false information that spread rapidly across Chinese social media.

The controversy gained momentum after the topic involving Mu Zhicheng and Song Xiaoyingzi surged onto trending charts, with online users sharing screenshots, videos and side-by-side comparisons that they believed pointed towards a special relationship. As often happens online, what started as speculation quickly turned into a full-blown discussion, with countless users attempting to piece together what they considered evidence.

In its official statement, TF Entertainment stressed that reports claiming Mu Zhicheng was privately involved with a non-industry individual were entirely untrue.

The company argued that many of the videos and materials being circulated were deliberately assembled to create a misleading narrative. According to the agency, similarities found in content posted online should not automatically be interpreted as proof of a personal relationship.

The statement arrived shortly after Song Xiaoyingzi personally addressed the rumours herself. Responding to the speculation, the actress bluntly rejected the claims with a simple denial, leaving little room for interpretation. Even so, the conversation had already gathered significant attention across entertainment communities and fan circles.

Part of the fascination surrounding the story came from the profiles of the two artists involved. Mu Zhicheng, born in 2007 in Chongqing, is known as a member of the third generation of TF Family trainees and has steadily built recognition as both a singer and actor.

He also appeared in the film First Taste of Loneliness, which attracted international attention after being selected for the Berlin Film Festival.

Meanwhile, Song Xiaoyingzi, born in 2001 in Henan, graduated from the Performance Department of the Beijing Film Academy and has appeared in productions including The Wrongly Married Princess Consort, Only for Love and Night Confession.

Adding another layer to the discussion, entertainment lawyer Li Zhenwu weighed in on the issue and described the phenomenon as a form of what he called "creating false conclusions from real fragments".

That explanation quickly gained attention online because it reflected a growing trend in fandom culture. Rather than inventing completely fictional events, some rumours are built by collecting genuine moments, removing context and rearranging them into a storyline that appears convincing at first glance.

The examples highlighted by online users included matching sword merchandise, participation in similar social media trends, polite interactions during variety programmes and allegedly overlapping schedules.

Viewed individually, none of these moments appeared unusual. Yet when stitched together into a single narrative, they created what many readers interpreted as evidence of a relationship. Critics of the rumour argued that the internet had essentially turned ordinary coincidences into a detective drama with a script already written before the facts arrived.

TF Entertainment also pointed out that similar video styles and trends are common across social media platforms, where creators frequently follow popular formats.

In other words, posting comparable content is hardly the entertainment equivalent of signing a relationship certificate, despite what some enthusiastic online detectives may believe.

Many fans welcomed the agency's swift response, arguing that speculation based on loosely connected details had gone too far.

However, the clarification has not convinced everyone. Across Chinese social media, some Cnetz continue to connect what they see as a growing number of coincidences, with fresh screenshots, timelines and supposed clues appearing almost daily. While many have accepted the agency's statement and moved on, others remain sceptical, arguing that they would rather wait for Mu Zhicheng and Song Xiaoyingzi themselves to publicly confirm or deny any relationship status in the future. For now, the debate continues, with supporters on both sides closely watching every new update and interaction for answers.

For now, TF Entertainment says the matter is straightforward: the rumours are false, the narrative circulating online is misleading, and the company intends to protect the reputation of its artists. Whether that finally puts an end to the discussion remains to be seen.
