The sudden passing of Jin Ze has left China's entertainment industry in shock, but alongside the grief has come something far less helpful: a flood of online rumours. As discussions surrounding the actor's death continue to dominate social media, his management company has issued a clear message to the public — stop guessing, stop sharing unverified stories, and wait for facts rather than turning speculation into headlines.

On 6 June, news of Jin Ze's passing quickly climbed trending charts across Chinese social media platforms, leaving many fans stunned. The actor, whose real name was Zhang Jiawei, was just 33 years old.

Shortly afterwards, his management agency, Shengshi Guangnian Culture, released an official statement confirming that he had passed away at his residence in Hangzhou on 4 June 2026.

The agency expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the actor and model, while also making it clear that all arrangements following his passing are currently being handled by his family.

Most importantly, the statement specifically asked the public and media not to create theories or circulate information regarding the cause of death without official confirmation.

That request came as online speculation began spreading rapidly. Within hours of the news becoming public, various claims appeared across social media attempting to explain what happened.

Some posts linked his passing to the demanding nature of the short-drama industry, while others pushed entirely unverified narratives. However, neither his family, management company nor relevant authorities have released any official details regarding the cause of death.

In other words, despite what some corners of the internet may confidently claim, nobody outside the relevant parties actually knows. The internet, as usual, seemed determined to finish an investigation before one had even begun.

For many fans, the news felt particularly difficult to process because Jin Ze remained actively involved in the entertainment industry until recently. His social media accounts showed him continuing to work on new productions and attend public events.

One of his final updates featured him celebrating the completion of a filming project, while another showed him attending a concert in Hangzhou only days before his passing.

Messages of condolence soon flooded his social media pages. Former co-stars, industry colleagues and long-time followers shared memories of the actor, describing him as hardworking, polite and approachable.

Several entertainment figures who had worked alongside him left farewell messages under his most recent posts, while fans admitted they initially thought the reports were false because of how sudden the news appeared.

The reaction from netizens has varied considerably. Many users have called for greater respect toward the family and criticised the spread of rumours. Others expressed frustration that every major celebrity story now seems to generate countless theories before verified information becomes available.

Some fans pointed out that turning a personal tragedy into a guessing game helps nobody, while others urged social media users to focus instead on celebrating the actor's work and achievements.

Long before becoming known as a drama actor, Jin Ze had already built a successful career as a professional model. Born in Weihai, Shandong Province, on 30 January 1993, he appeared at international fashion events, including Milan Men's Fashion Week, and earned recognition within the fashion industry.

He later transitioned into acting, gradually establishing himself through television projects and short-form dramas. Over the past few years, his profile continued to grow thanks to appearances in popular productions such as "Begin Again" and "Don't Negotiate with Your Boss"

He also reportedly completed several projects that have yet to be released, making the news of his passing even more heartbreaking for supporters who were looking forward to seeing his upcoming work.

Adding to the emotional response, a childhood friend shared a moving tribute online after the news was confirmed. The friend spoke about years of friendship and admitted struggling to accept the reality of the situation.

According to the post, the news felt so sudden that there was initially disbelief rather than acceptance. For now, the only confirmed facts remain those provided by Shengshi Guangnian Culture and the actor's family. Everything else circulating online remains speculation.

As public interest continues to grow, many fans are echoing the same message: respect the family's privacy, remember Jin Ze for his work rather than rumours, and allow verified information to come from official sources when appropriate.

His passing has undoubtedly left a gap in the industry, but perhaps the most respectful tribute right now is not another theory, but simply remembering the performances that made audiences appreciate him in the first place. What are your favourite memories of Jin Ze's career, and which of his dramas will you remember most?
