The success of The Heir may have given viewers plenty to talk about, but it seems one person is still not over the experience: Elvis Han Dongjun. During a recent appearance on Sohu Video’s celebrity interview programme Star Colleague, the actor and racing driver spoke candidly about his role as Luo Wenqian, his unexpectedly viral moments from the drama, and perhaps most notably, his experience working alongside Yang Zi. Judging by his comments, the admiration is very much mutual territory.
Reflecting on Luo Wenqian’s journey in The Heir, Elvis described family loyalty and devotion to his family legacy as the character’s greatest source of strength. While the drama placed Luo Wenqian through emotional turmoil, hidden identities and painful sacrifices, Elvis Han believes the character’s attachment to home was the armour that carried him through every challenge.
If he could leave Luo Wenqian with a message, he joked that it would simply be: “May you return still a young man.” Not a bad wish considering how much emotional damage the poor man endured across the series.
The actor also revisited several of Luo Wenqian’s most emotional scenes, particularly the heartbreaking farewell with his father. According to Elvis, one of the character’s greatest regrets was unknowingly saying goodbye to his father for the final time.
He revealed that parts of the scene evolved during filming, creating an even more poignant emotional impact. Unsurprisingly, those scenes became some of the drama’s most talked-about moments among viewers.
Of course, no discussion about The Heir would be complete without mentioning Luo Wenqian’s relationship with Li Zhen. During the interview, Elvis Han watched behind-the-scenes footage of the pair and could barely hide his smile.
When asked about online jokes suggesting Luo Wenqian looked at Li Zhen the same way fans look at their favourite celebrities, Elvis Han delivered a response that immediately sent supporters into overdrive. He expressed interest in exploring stories set in rural communities, mountain regions or realistic social environments that reflect everyday life. His hope, he said, is to tell meaningful stories from fresh perspectives while sharing positive messages with audiences.
