Anyone watching Netflix’s Office Romance could be forgiven for opening a search tab and asking the same question: is Air Cruz actually a real airline? The company feels authentic enough to have its own loyalty programme, annual shareholder headaches and a queue of passengers complaining about delayed flights. Yet despite its convincing corporate image, Air Cruz exists only within the world of the film. It is a fictional airline created specifically for the romantic comedy’s story, though its realistic presentation has left plenty of viewers briefly convinced they had somehow missed a major international carrier.
At the centre of the film is Jackie, played by Jennifer Lopez, the powerful CEO of Air Cruz. Unlike many of Lopez’s previous characters, who often find themselves fighting their way towards success, Jackie starts the story already sitting at the top.

The rival companies are portrayed as aggressive and ambitious, creating the kind of business environment that feels recognisable even if the airline itself is fictional. It gives the film a grounded backdrop while allowing the romance to remain the main attraction.
Online reactions have been mixed but highly engaged. Many viewers admitted they initially assumed Air Cruz was based on a real airline because of the level of detail shown on screen.
Some praised the filmmakers for creating a company that feels authentic without relying on an existing brand. Others joked that Air Cruz appears more organised than certain real-world airlines they have travelled with, which may or may not be the glowing compliment they intended.
