Prime Video’s Off Campus may have arrived as a romance drama filled with hockey boys, emotional chaos and enough longing stares to power an entire playlist, but viewers quickly became distracted by something else entirely: the filming locations. The 2026 adaptation of Elle Kennedy’s bestselling book series turned British Columbia into the unofficial capital of attractive university drama, and now fans are busy trying to figure out which places deserve a spot on their travel bucket lists before they emotionally recover from Hannah and Garrett’s chemistry. Spoiler: recovery may take a while.

The series follows the relationship between quiet songwriter Hannah and Briar University hockey star Garrett Graham, unfolding across classrooms, ice rinks, pubs and scenic streets that somehow made university life look suspiciously glamorous.

Naturally, production kept several filming spots under wraps during shooting in 2025 to avoid crowds interrupting scenes. Because apparently yelling “I LOVE YOU GARRETT” during emotional takes is considered disruptive filmmaking behaviour. Harsh, honestly.

Filming for ‘Off Campus’ mainly took place across British Columbia, particularly in Vancouver and surrounding areas. Production reportedly began in June 2025 under the working title “Lillian Way” before wrapping in October.

The result is a visually polished campus romance that balances youthful energy with the kind of Canadian scenery that makes viewers suddenly consider studying abroad despite barely surviving group projects.

One of the biggest filming locations was the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, which doubled as the fictional Briar University. The massive campus gave the show its authentic university atmosphere, from long academic hallways to open green spaces filled with students pretending they absolutely do not have deadlines approaching.

Located at 6200 University Boulevard, UBC is already known globally for its cinematic architecture and ocean-facing scenery, so honestly, it was almost unfair to cast it in a romance series. The place looks like someone designed a university entirely for dramatic confession scenes.

Within the university grounds, filming also took place at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre, where many of Garrett Graham’s hockey sequences were shot. The arena brought real sporting intensity to the series, especially during locker room scenes and match moments that fans immediately clipped online.

Even viewers who do not understand hockey suddenly became experts after watching the show. At minimum, everyone now knows that hockey players apparently spend 70 per cent of their lives looking emotionally stressed under fluorescent lighting.

Another major location featured in the series is Pacific Coliseum inside Hastings Park in Vancouver. The iconic arena has hosted professional hockey events for decades, giving several match sequences a much larger and more cinematic atmosphere.

The production team reportedly used the venue for crowd-heavy scenes, helping Briar University’s hockey world feel genuinely alive instead of looking like ten extras politely clapping in the background.

In East Vancouver, the cast and crew also filmed inside The Heatley, a popular local pub located on East Hastings Street. The venue’s warm lighting and laid-back atmosphere made it perfect for the series’ casual friendship scenes and emotionally messy late-night conversations.

Fans online quickly became obsessed with the pub after recognising it in several episodes, with many joking that every fictional university somehow has one magical bar where everyone looks attractive and no one ever struggles to find seating.

Another memorable filming spot was the DOUGLAS, Autograph Collection, the luxury hotel located at 45 Smithe Street in downtown Vancouver.

The hotel’s sleek interiors were reportedly used for upscale party scenes and several emotionally tense encounters. Because no romance drama is complete without someone staring dramatically across a modern hotel lobby while questioning their life decisions.

The production also travelled to Deep Cove in North Vancouver, one of British Columbia’s most picturesque waterfront communities. Deep Cove brought a softer, quieter atmosphere to the series with its marina views, forest surroundings and cosy seaside aesthetic.

Several outdoor walking scenes and reflective character moments were filmed here, giving the show a more intimate visual tone. Fans immediately began calling it “the healing location” online, which is internet language for “the characters cried there but it looked pretty.”

While filming in North Vancouver, the team also used Cates Park and sections of the Indian Arm waterfront, adding more coastal scenery to the series. These locations helped create the calm contrast to Briar University’s louder hockey-driven world.

The natural setting gave the romance storyline breathing space, although viewers were still mostly distracted by whether Garrett and Hannah would communicate properly for once.

Outside Vancouver, production headed to Bastion Square in Victoria, British Columbia. The historic district added a different visual texture to the series with its old architecture, cafés, pubs and busy public spaces.

Bastion Square has long been a favourite tourist destination thanks to its blend of heritage charm and modern city life, making it an ideal backdrop for travel-style sequences and social scenes. Several fans online said the location gave the show “main character holiday energy,” which sounds ridiculous but somehow also completely accurate.

Victoria’s Inner Harbour and surrounding waterfront streets also appeared throughout the series, helping expand the world outside Briar University. The elegant harbour views added a more mature and cinematic feel to certain episodes, especially during quieter moments focused on friendship and personal growth.

Prime Video Off Campus Filming Locations Fans Can Actually Visit in Canada

It is the type of scenery that makes viewers suddenly believe walking near water will solve emotional problems. Television continues to spread dangerous optimism.

One of the more unexpected filming locations was Riverview Hospital in Coquitlam. While known historically for its striking architecture and frequent use in film productions, the site was transformed for several emotionally heavier scenes in the series.

Its isolated atmosphere and distinctive buildings gave some episodes a slightly more serious visual tone without losing the overall romantic feel of the show.

Production also spent time filming around Gastown, Vancouver’s historic district famous for its brick buildings, cafés and vintage street aesthetic. Several evening scenes featuring Hannah wandering through the city were reportedly filmed here, and viewers immediately noticed the neighbourhood’s cosy cinematic energy.

Social media reactions were filled with comments from fans wanting to recreate the exact walking routes from the series, despite the fact that television walking scenes never include sore feet or bad weather.

Fans and netizens have reacted strongly to the filming locations ever since the series premiered. Some praised the production for making British Columbia feel youthful, stylish and emotionally immersive rather than simply functioning as generic background scenery.

Others admitted the locations made them want to book flights immediately, even if their actual university experience looked nothing like the polished world of Briar University. A few viewers also joked that the series accidentally became the best tourism campaign Canada never officially paid for.

What especially stood out for audiences was how naturally the locations blended with the emotional tone of the series. The hockey arenas felt intense, the waterfront scenes felt reflective, and the university campus genuinely captured the strange mix of freedom and confusion that comes with early adulthood.

Or, as one fan perfectly summed it up online: “Everyone in Off Campus looks stressed, gorgeous and emotionally unavailable in beautiful locations.” Honestly, fair assessment.

As interest in the series keeps growing, fans are already building travel itineraries around the filming spots featured throughout the show. Several locations remain open to both local and international visitors, making them ideal stops for anyone wanting to relive favourite scenes from the Prime Video drama.

And knowing fandom culture, there is probably already someone rehearsing Hannah and Garrett dialogue in front of a Vancouver coffee shop right now. So, if you could visit one filming location from ‘Off Campus’, which one would make your bucket list first?
