| Netflix’s Berlin Season 3: Release Date Rumours, Cast Returns and Why Fans Think Italy Is the Next Heist Destination. (Credits: Netflix) |
Berlin keeps proving one ridiculous fact over and over again: apparently death is not enough to stop this man from getting another Netflix season. While the character famously met his end in Money Heist, the prequel spin-off continues squeezing more chaos, romance and luxury thefts out of his criminal past — and viewers clearly are not complaining. After the explosive ending of Berlin and the Lady With an Ermine, attention has already shifted toward one question: will Netflix officially give the series a third season?
At the moment, Netflix has not confirmed Berlin Season 3, but the chances look stronger than Berlin’s own ego, which honestly says a lot. The second season announcement arrived a few months after the first season exploded globally, so fans expect a similar timeline this time around.
If the streaming giant follows the same production pattern, the next chapter could realistically land sometime in 2028. Painfully far away, yes, but this franchise has somehow convinced audiences that waiting years to watch attractive thieves argue in expensive coats is completely normal behaviour.
The second season ended with another successful heist, though naturally nobody in Berlin’s world is allowed to enjoy happiness peacefully for more than seven minutes.
Between betrayals, emotional fallout and another reminder that Berlin’s love life is basically a luxury disaster wrapped in charisma, the finale left enough threads open for a third story. And judging from the show’s formula so far, the next season will likely go even bigger, louder and more emotionally messy.
One of the biggest theories surrounding Berlin Season 3 involves the next location. The first season transformed Paris into a glamorous playground for jewel theft, while Season 2 shifted the action toward Seville with its art-heavy narrative and historical atmosphere.
Fans now believe the next destination could be Italy, partly because it feels like the most natural evolution for Berlin’s obsession with beauty, culture and outrageously valuable objects that do not belong to him.
Honestly, an Italian setting almost writes itself. Rome, Venice, Florence or Milan would perfectly fit the series’ style of elegant criminal nonsense. Viewers are already imagining Berlin casually discussing Renaissance art before ruining somebody’s insurance policy forever.
Considering the second season cleverly connected its fictional heist to the real-world history of Lady With an Ermine, many expect Berlin Season 3 to once again blur fiction with actual historical treasures. The series clearly enjoys making audiences Google expensive paintings at 2am wondering, “Wait… did this really happen?”
Still, the creators may decide to completely surprise audiences by taking Berlin outside Europe for the first time. That would massively change the visual identity of the franchise, especially since both Money Heist and Berlin have remained heavily tied to European settings.
Some fans even speculate the series could temporarily explore locations connected to the crew’s escape routes after past heists, particularly Argentina, where Berlin previously hid after Paris.
Either way, viewers are expecting another visually extravagant season filled with dramatic speeches, impossible plans and at least one scene where somebody flirts during active criminal activity for absolutely no reason.
As for the cast, most of the core crew is expected to return if Berlin Season 3 moves forward. Pedro Alonso will obviously continue leading the madness as Berlin himself, alongside Tristán Ulloa as Damián, Michelle Jenner as Keila, Julio Peña Fernández as Roi and Joel Sánchez as Bruce.
Their chemistry has become one of the spin-off’s biggest strengths, especially because every member of the team somehow feels both highly intelligent and deeply chaotic at the same time.
One major absence, however, is likely to be Begoña Vargas as Cameron following the character’s tragic ending in Season 2. Her storyline became one of the emotional centres of the season, and many viewers admitted they did not expect the show to hit that hard emotionally considering half the plot involves rich people stealing artwork while flirting aggressively.
Online reactions to Cameron’s fate ranged from genuine heartbreak to fans demanding Netflix “undo emotional damage immediately”.
Meanwhile, Samantha Siqueiros’ Camile appears positioned for a larger role moving forward. The mid-credits scene strongly hinted that her story is far from over, with viewers already speculating about possible connections involving Roi.
The internet has naturally responded by immediately creating edits, theories and relationship charts complicated enough to qualify as conspiracy boards.
Berlin’s personal life will likely remain another major focus. Season 2 ended with his marriage to Candela, played by Inma Cuesta, but long-time Money Heist viewers already know Berlin’s future relationships do not exactly scream stability.
The third season could explore the gradual collapse of their marriage or simply jump forward to another stage of his life where he is once again romantically unavailable in the most dramatic way possible.
At the same time, Damián’s relationship with Genoveva, played by Marta Nieto, could become more complicated if she remains involved with the crew.
Season 2 showed her embracing the excitement of Berlin’s world, but viewers are already debating how long any emotionally healthy person could realistically survive around this group. One fan joked online that joining Berlin’s inner circle is basically “accepting emotional stress as a full-time occupation”.
Another thing fans expect from Berlin Season 3 is more crossover appearances from beloved Money Heist characters. The spin-off has already brought back Raquel Murillo, Alicia Sierra and even a cameo from The Professor, reminding viewers that the franchise still has plenty of timeline gaps left to explore.
Many are now hoping for a bigger role from Palermo, whose history with Berlin remains one of the most emotionally layered relationships in the entire universe.
The possibility of seeing Rodrigo de la Serna return as Palermo has especially excited long-time fans because the original series only scratched the surface of their complicated connection.
A third season could finally dive deeper into how Berlin’s closest relationships shaped him before the Royal Mint heist changed everything. And considering this franchise survives almost entirely on tension, betrayal and emotionally damaged geniuses delivering monologues, there is clearly still plenty of material left.
Online reactions to the possibility of Berlin Season 3 have been predictably chaotic. Some viewers remain convinced the spin-off has become even more entertaining than later seasons of Money Heist, while others admit they originally doubted the prequel entirely before becoming completely invested.
Meanwhile, another section of the internet continues asking the same question every season: “How is this man still carrying an entire franchise while technically already dead?”
Still, one thing is obvious. Netflix knows the character remains wildly popular, and the spin-off has successfully built its own identity beyond simply being a nostalgic extension of Money Heist.
The stylish visuals, absurdly ambitious robberies and emotionally unstable romance plots continue pulling audiences back in — even when viewers fully know Berlin himself is walking straight toward tragedy eventually.
Until Netflix confirms the next chapter officially, fans are left building theories, rewatching heists and trying to predict which priceless artwork Berlin might emotionally attach himself to next.
So if Berlin Season 3 really happens, where should the crew go next — Italy, Argentina, somewhere completely unexpected, or back to Spain for one more disaster disguised as genius planning? The debate online is already getting louder, and honestly, Berlin would probably love the attention.
