Chinese influencer Han Anran has landed herself in another full-scale internet storm after casually ranking the cosmetic transformation results of some of China’s biggest actresses during a livestream, and honestly, social media reacted exactly how you would expect. One minute viewers thought they were watching beauty gossip, the next minute the livestream turned into a nationwide debate involving Ju Jingyi, Yang Zi, Yang Mi, Zhao Lusi, Jelly Lin Yun, beauty clinics, fanwars, and a very fast public apology.
The controversy exploded after clips from Han Anran’s livestream spread across Chinese social media platforms this week. During the broadcast, she openly discussed what she described as the “most successful” and “least successful” appearance transformations among female celebrities in 2026.
According to the ranking circulating online, Ju Jingyi was placed at the very top, with Han Anran praising her for making gradual and “smart” changes that still looked natural and elegant. She described Ju Jingyi’s transformation as polished, balanced, and almost “textbook perfect” in the beauty world.
Meanwhile, Yang Mi, Lin Yun, and Zhao Lusi were grouped into the category Han Anran considered “quite good”. She claimed these actresses supposedly understood which facial features suited them best and avoided making changes that completely erased their original charm. In short, according to her, they knew when to stop — which, in celebrity beauty discussions online, is apparently treated like a superpower now.

The sharpest comments, however, were directed at Yang Zi, who ended up at the bottom of Han Anran’s ranking. Han Anran suggested that some of Yang Zi’s appearance changes looked “too stiff” and altered her facial structure too much compared to her earlier image.
Those comments immediately triggered backlash online, especially from Yang Zi’s supporters, who accused Han Anran of crossing the line by publicly criticising another woman’s appearance for livestream content.

Things became even messier after Han Anran started talking about her beauty clinic during the same livestream.
She claimed that several top Chinese actresses regularly visited her clinic for aesthetic procedures and said her doctors were highly trusted injection specialists from Beijing who often worked with celebrities.

She stopped short of naming anyone directly, saying she wanted to “protect their privacy”, though that explanation did not exactly calm the internet down. If anything, it made netizens even more curious.
Before long, social media users began digging through old and recent photos of the actresses mentioned, comparing noses, cheeks, jawlines and facial proportions like they were suddenly forensic beauty experts overnight.

Some viewers agreed with Han Anran’s observations, arguing that celebrity appearance changes have become an open secret in the entertainment industry anyway. Others blasted the livestream as unnecessary, mean-spirited and suspiciously convenient considering Han Anran also runs a beauty-related business.
C-netz accused the influencer of deliberately stirring controversy to gain attention for her clinic. Several netizens joked that “the livestream sounded more like an advertisement with extra gossip included for free.”
Others pointed out the irony that Han Anran herself has long been publicly associated with cosmetic procedures and has openly discussed undergoing numerous surgeries over the years, including multiple nose operations that reportedly caused health complications.
As criticism intensified, Han Anran eventually posted a public apology online. In her statement, she claimed the controversial celebrity ranking content had been generated using digital AI material while she was away on a business trip.

She also said her original intention was to discuss beauty standards and aesthetics in a broader sense, but admitted that her wording was inappropriate and caused misunderstandings.
“I used inappropriate wording, which caused trouble and negative effects for the actresses and their fans. I sincerely apologise,” Han Anran wrote.
The apology has not fully stopped the online discussions. Many c-netz remain unconvinced and continue questioning whether the controversy was carefully engineered from the start. At the same time, some viewers also admitted the livestream became wildly addictive to watch precisely because it was so brutally blunt.
For now, none of the actresses mentioned have publicly responded to Han Anran’s comments, and there is still no confirmed evidence linking them to her clinic. But that has not stopped the internet from turning the entire saga into one of the hottest celebrity discussions of the week.
