Thai actor Est Supha has finally addressed the chaotic airport scene in Shanghai that sent social media into overdrive this week, after videos showed the actor being tightly surrounded by fans while trying to move through the terminal. The clips were messy, loud and honestly looked less like a celebrity arrival and more like the final round of a survival game nobody signed up for.
The incident quickly became one of the most talked-about topics among Thai entertainment fans online, with many viewers expressing concern over the safety of both Est Supha and ordinary passengers caught in the crowd. While the actor himself escaped unharmed, he admitted the situation was far more intense than he had expected.
Speaking to reporters after attending the exclusive “Matcha Sensory Experience” workshop event at OREO MATCHA HOUSE in Bangkok, Est Supha reflected on the moment with surprising honesty and a slightly amused tone. According to the actor, the viral footage made the situation look even more dramatic than it felt in real life.
“At first I honestly found it funny,” Est reportedly said. “The video looked like I was being arrested at the airport.”
The actor then thanked his security team and manager for protecting him throughout the situation, explaining that they handled everything as carefully as possible while the crowd continued pushing forward around them.

Still, Est Supha made it clear that his biggest concern was never really himself. Instead, he said he felt worried about other travellers using the airport who unexpectedly got caught in the chaos while simply trying to get to their flights like normal human beings who did not expect to become background extras in a fan mob video.
He explained that several passengers carrying luggage or looking at their phones were suddenly pushed aside as the crowd surged forward.
The actor particularly highlighted the danger near escalator areas, saying the situation could easily have become more serious if security had lost control of the crowd.
“There were other passengers there who had nothing to do with this,” Est Supha shared. “Some people were dragged into the pushing without even realising what was happening.”
The actor also admitted he had already mentally prepared himself before the trip after seeing fellow Thai actor Pond Naravit previously dealing with a similar airport crowd situation.
Est Supha even revealed he deliberately wore running shoes during the journey in case he needed to move quickly.
That detail alone triggered endless reactions online, with fans joking that modern celebrities now apparently need airport survival strategies alongside passports and boarding passes.
According to Est Supha, the situation initially felt manageable. He was still greeting fans normally while walking through the airport.
However, things changed once he moved past the barricade area, where the pushing became increasingly aggressive and difficult to control.
Ironically, Est Supha noted that some of the people trying hardest to film him ended up hurting themselves instead.
He mentioned seeing phones dropped and individuals accidentally walking into poles or obstacles while focusing entirely on recording him rather than where they were going.
“There’s really nothing good about that situation,” he explained. “The videos that came out weren’t even worth all that chaos.”
The actor also stressed that he would rather meet supporters in proper organised settings instead of crowded public spaces like airports.
He reassured fans that he is always happy to interact during official events, where both sides can feel more relaxed and safe without airport passengers accidentally becoming collateral damage in the process.
Public reactions to Est’s comments have been sharply divided. Many fans praised him for remaining calm and prioritising public safety rather than turning the incident into pure fan-service drama.
Others criticised the culture of airport crowding itself, arguing that celebrity arrivals have increasingly started resembling unofficial public events despite airports very much still being functioning transport hubs and not concert venues.
Some netizens also pointed out how common these situations have become across Asian entertainment industries, especially as viral fancams continue driving online engagement. Several comments jokingly questioned whether airport terminals now need “idol traffic control systems” at this point.
Meanwhile, supporters defended fans who attended the airport, saying excitement simply escalated too quickly once the crowd grew larger.
Others disagreed entirely, arguing that personal space and public safety should remain common sense regardless of celebrity status.
Fortunately, Est Supha confirmed that his return journey was significantly calmer. Since departure areas are generally restricted to ticketed passengers, the atmosphere felt safer and far more controlled.
He also suggested the viral discussion surrounding the incident may have encouraged some people to rethink crowd behaviour moving forward.
The situation has once again sparked broader conversations about celebrity culture, airport security and fan boundaries in the age of constant online content.
Because somewhere along the way, airports quietly stopped being places where people just buy overpriced coffee before boarding flights and somehow became unofficial red carpets with escalators.
For now, Est Supha appears more relieved than shaken. But his comments have clearly resonated with many viewers who believe fan culture works best when excitement does not come at the expense of public safety.
What do you think — are airport fan crowds becoming too much, or is this simply the new reality of celebrity culture in 2026?
