Shanghai TSH48 has officially introduced its Eighth Generation, adding eight fresh trainees to the line-up and making it clear the group has no intention of fading quietly into the background. The latest intake feels less like a routine update and more like a statement: TSH48 still plans to compete, still plans to grow, and still knows how to make an entrance.
The new generation arrives after auditions opened in early 2026 and closed on 25 March, with candidates facing several selection rounds before the final eight were chosen.
Now, those trainees step into the spotlight as the newest names carrying the TSH48 banner. For long-time followers, it is another cycle of reinvention.
For newcomers, it is a chance to learn just how seriously these fanbases take roll calls and ribbon colours.
The eight members revealed are Chang Qinfeng, Gan Xingwan, Li Wenhuan, Long Qingrui, Shen Qing, Shu Siyue, Wu Sihan, and Xing Enhe.
All currently hold trainee status, meaning the real work begins now. No permanent team yet, no comfortable seat, no free pass. Just rehearsals, performances, scrutiny, and thousands of fans already deciding favourites before anyone has finished unpacking.
Among the first names drawing attention is Chang Qinfeng, nicknamed Xiao Feng, born on 29 October 2004. Her profile paints a calm and cool image, describing her as relaxed, emotionally steady and slightly detached.
She enjoys singing, prefers winter, likes cream tones, listens to J-POP, and names Steins;Gate among her favourites. She also admits fearing salary cuts, which may be the most relatable idol profile detail of the year.
Then there is Gan Xingwan, nicknamed Xingxing, born on 19 June 2003. Her introduction leans in the opposite direction: lively, rebellious, contradictory and energetic.
She enjoys dancing, skateboarding, dramas, food outings and daydreaming, which is either charming honesty or elite time management.
Her favourites include pink, summer, R&B, hotpot, grilled meat and Goblin. In short, she sounds built for variety shows already.
The remaining six members — Li Wenhuan, Long Qingrui, Shen Qing, Shu Siyue, Wu Sihan, and Xing Enhe — were introduced with lighter public details for now.
That is standard practice in idol circles, where deeper profiles often arrive later once fans have had enough time to start theories, debates and dramatic rankings based on two photos and a birthday.
Alongside the new generation reveal, TSH48 also released updated uniforms. Regular members will wear pink ribbons, while trainees receive light blue ribbons.

It is a neat visual distinction, practical branding, and exactly the kind of detail fans will analyse as if decoding state documents.
Online reaction has been mixed, lively and predictably dramatic. Some fans welcomed the fresh energy, saying the group needed new personalities and stronger trainee depth.
Others immediately began choosing standouts, with Chang Qinfeng and Gan Xingwan receiving early attention thanks to fuller profiles.
A few sceptics questioned whether the industry can support yet another new generation, while veteran fans responded in classic style: loudly, passionately, and with spreadsheets.
There is also wider curiosity about what this means for TSH48’s next phase.
New trainees often signal upcoming theatre activity, fresh unit opportunities, reshuffled teams, and stronger competition inside the group. In other words, everyone should smile nicely while quietly panicking backstage.
For TSH48, the Eighth Generation is more than a debut announcement. It is a reminder that idol groups survive through renewal, momentum and the promise that the next star may already be standing in the back row.
Which of these eight catches your eye first, and who do you think will rise fastest once performances begin?
