Taiwanese actor-singer Prince Chiu has been questioned by police as part of a widening investigation into alleged military service evasion, with authorities intensifying scrutiny on public figures suspected of exploiting loopholes in the conscription system.
According to local reports, prosecutors in New Taipei carried out a fourth wave of coordinated searches tied to the case, bringing in several high-profile names for questioning.
Prince Chiu was taken from his residence in Nangang on the morning of 1 April and escorted to police for formal interrogation before being transferred to the district prosecutors’ office for further examination.
During questioning, Prince Chiu admitted to paying roughly NT$330,000 to obtain a falsified medical record indicating high blood pressure, allegedly used as grounds to avoid mandatory military service.
He declined to disclose who facilitated the document, leaving investigators to pursue a broader network suspected of arranging such services.
After several hours of inquiry, prosecutors deemed there was sufficient suspicion of a breach of military service regulations.

He was released on bail set at NT$500,000, with the case remaining under active investigation. Authorities have signalled that further action may follow as they work to identify all parties connected to the scheme.
The case sits within a larger probe into alleged systematic evasion among celebrities.
Names such as Darren Wang, Chen Bolin, and Hsu Jie Kai have also surfaced in connection with similar inquiries, while multiple members linked to the once-dominant boy group Lollipop (Bang Bang Tang) have reportedly undergone questioning in earlier phases and were released on varying bail terms.
For Prince Chiu, the development adds to a period of sustained public scrutiny.
In 2025, he was drawn into a widely discussed personal controversy involving actor Zack Fanchiang’s family, where he acknowledged inappropriate conduct and issued a public apology.
The latest allegations now place his professional reputation under renewed pressure at a time when enforcement around conscription compliance appears to be tightening.

Some fans have expressed disappointment, arguing that public figures should be held to a higher standard given their influence, while others have taken a more cautious stance, urging observers to wait for the legal process to conclude before drawing firm conclusions.
Across Taiwanese forums, the case has reignited debate about fairness in military obligations and whether celebrity status has historically enabled preferential treatment.
The investigation continues to unfold, with prosecutors indicating that additional summons and disclosures are likely as they map out the alleged network behind the falsified records. For now, Prince Chiu remains under scrutiny, his next steps closely watched.
