The latest round of celebrity speculation on Chinese social media unravelled almost as quickly as it began, after well-known paparazzi figure Liu Dachui publicly denied any involvement in claims that Hou Minghao (Neo Hou) and Lu Yuxiao are dating.
The rumour, which surged across Weibo on 9 April, leaned heavily on the idea of a so-called “exposed” attributed to Liu, only for his team to shut it down with a blunt response: “Rumour!”
According to reports carried by Sohu Entertainment, the denial was not vague or carefully worded. It was direct, immediate, and unusually sharp for an industry often fond of ambiguity.

Liu Dachui’s team made it clear the dating claims did not originate from them, effectively pulling the rug out from under a narrative that had already gained traction online.

Others pointed out that ordinary colleague behaviour had been repackaged as romantic signals, with comments suggesting the rumour felt less like a revelation and more like creative writing.

At the same time, a smaller group of fans remains cautiously invested, arguing that silence from both Hou Minghao and Lu Yuxiao’s teams leaves room for interpretation.
