Flunked wrapped its first season with chaos, dodgy choices and one brilliantly awkward escape, leaving viewers with the sort of ending that practically begs for another chapter. Eddy, the con man who accidentally became a decent teacher while working undercover, drove off into uncertainty with student Oceane hidden in the back of his van. It was messy, unresolved and exactly the kind of finale that keeps audiences talking long after the credits roll.

The series built its charm around a ridiculous premise that somehow worked far better than expected. Eddy entered the classroom as part of a police operation, pretending to be a maths teacher while helping authorities chase criminal target Sagirov

Somewhere between lies, panic and barely controlled disasters, he discovered he genuinely cared about teaching. That was unfortunate timing, as it came just as he learned Lucie had never planned to wipe his past clean, only shorten his sentence.

So rather than accept prison with a discount, Eddy did what Eddy does best and disappeared.

That final getaway has now become the biggest clue for what Flunked Season 2 could look like. If the show returns, the most obvious route is Eddy starting fresh in a new city under another fake identity, once again trying to teach while avoiding the law.

It would suit the series perfectly: one man attempting redemption while being spectacularly unqualified to manage his own life.

Another possible route is that Lucie catches up with him and drags him into yet another undercover mission.

If season one proved anything, it is that Eddy is strangely useful in situations where absolutely no sensible person would trust him. Police logic may be questionable, but television logic says it works.

The strongest theme of the show was never the crime plot. It was Eddy slowly realising that helping students gave him something he had clearly lacked: purpose.

Season 2 could push that even further, exploring whether a man built on scams can actually become respectable. Or at least semi-respectable. Baby steps.

Then there is Oceane, whose decision to hide in Eddy’s van turned the ending from chaotic to gloriously absurd. She believes Eddy may be her father, a misunderstanding created during the investigation.

Naturally, the adults handled this with the emotional maturity of people juggling chainsaws. If a second season happens, their relationship could become the emotional core of the story.

That matters because beneath the jokes sits a proper dilemma. Eddy may not be her real father, but he might become the only dependable parental figure she has. The truth, however, is still sitting there like a time bomb waiting for terrible timing.

As for cast returns, Alexandre Kominek would almost certainly need to reprise Eddy, because without him there is no show, only paperwork.

Laurence Arné as Lucie also feels essential given the unfinished tension between the pair. Their mix of mistrust, chemistry and constant annoyance remains one of the drama’s sharpest ingredients.

Many of the teachers and pupils from Charles Baudelaire High School could also reappear depending on the storyline.

If the series relocates Eddy elsewhere, new faces may arrive while fan favourites pop back in when least expected. Tiphaine, who played a meaningful role in Eddy’s life, feels like another character viewers would expect to see again.

Netflix has not officially renewed Flunked at the time of writing, but if that changes soon, industry timing suggests a new season could land in 2027, with 2028 also realistic if production takes longer. Comedy dramas often move faster than giant fantasy epics, though streaming platforms enjoy keeping everyone guessing.

Fan reaction online has been mixed in the best way possible. Some viewers loved the ending’s open chaos and called it bold, while others said it felt like the show stopped mid-sentence.

Many praised Eddy’s growth from selfish operator to accidental mentor. Others simply demanded answers about Oceane, because leaving with a teenager in the van is the sort of cliffhanger that raises several questions immediately.

Netizens have also joked that Eddy is now the least convincing fugitive in television history, as he would probably be caught within hours for overexplaining himself in a bakery queue. Others reckon he could somehow become headteacher next season, which sounds impossible and therefore strangely likely.

For now, Flunked Season 2 remains a rumour rather than a reality, but the story clearly has room to continue.

Eddy has unfinished business, Oceane deserves answers, and Lucie probably still has a file with his name on it. Would you watch another season, or did season one end exactly where it should? Let the debate begin.
