The long-whispered remake of A Round Trip to Love suddenly feels far less like internet fantasy and far more like an industry plan in motion. Four actors heavily linked to the project — Sun Zheng, Lu Sitong, Fa Xuange, and He Jiashu — have now officially joined Mejoy Entertainment, instantly sending fans into detective mode. In entertainment circles, when several rumoured leads land under one roof at the same time, people tend to notice. And yes, fans noticed immediately.

The move has sparked fresh speculation that the remake of A Round Trip to Love could be nearing its broadcast phase, or at the very least entering a serious production stage. No formal release date has been confirmed, but the timing has naturally raised eyebrows.

Agencies do not usually gather potential cast members like puzzle pieces for no reason, though the industry also enjoys suspense almost as much as viewers do.

Originally released in 2016 under its Chinese title 双程 (Shuang Cheng), the drama became one of the most talked-about Boys’ Love titles of its era.

It built a loyal following through emotional storytelling, intense chemistry, and a plot that was never interested in taking the easy route. It was messy, dramatic, heartfelt, and occasionally exhausting in the way only memorable romance stories can be.

The story follows Lu Feng and Xiao Chen, two university students from entirely different worlds who unexpectedly fall for each other. Their relationship soon faces fierce family opposition, social pressure, and prejudice.

Lu Feng is sent away to Hong Kong by his father, while Xiao Chen is left to deal with campus hostility and the fallout alone. Romantic? Barely. Chaotic? Absolutely.

Years later, the pair meet again in the workplace, where Lu Feng has become a company boss and Xiao Chen is now an employee. Old feelings remain, but so do old wounds.

Misunderstandings, emotional strain, unresolved resentment and lingering affection drive the story forward. In short, it is the sort of romance where nobody simply says what they feel until several emotional disasters happen first.

The remake is expected to modernise certain elements of the original story to better match today’s viewing climate. Many fans believe the new version could soften outdated tropes, deepen character motivations, and bring a more balanced emotional arc.

Others have compared the possible approach to how newer youth romance and BL projects have refreshed older formulas for current audiences. Translation: less chaos for chaos’ sake, hopefully more actual communication.

Online reaction has been sharply divided, which usually means interest is high. Some fans are thrilled that a cult-favourite title may return with a younger cast and updated production values.

They believe the story deserves a second life with stronger writing and modern pacing. Others are more cautious, arguing that certain classics should be left untouched unless producers truly understand why audiences connected with them in the first place.

There is also intense curiosity surrounding Sun Zheng, Lu Sitong, Fa Xuange, and He Jiashu. Supporters are already debating who should play Lu Feng, who best suits Xiao Chen, and whether the chemistry will land. As always, casting discussions online have become half analysis, half chaos, and fully entertaining.

The first 2016 adaptation starred Gao Taiyu, Huang Jingxiang, Yi Shuai, and Xiang Hao, whose performances helped cement the series’ place in early modern BL drama history.

Any remake will inevitably face comparison, fair or unfair, because nostalgia rarely arrives quietly.

For now, no official production schedule has been announced, but momentum is clearly building. If the remake handles the source material with care, it could become one of the more closely watched Chinese BL revivals in recent memory.

If not, fans will certainly let everyone know within seconds. Do you think A Round Trip to Love deserves a remake, and which actor should take the lead role?
