The tvN series Undercover Miss Hong (언더커버 미쓰홍) wrapped its 16-episode run in 2026, closing a chaotic financial chess match between investigators, executives and hidden allies. Directed by Park Seon Ho, the comedy-romance-crime drama followed Park Shin Hye as Hong Geum-bo / Hong Jang-mi, a Financial Supervisory Service investigator who infiltrates Hanmin Securities while posing as an ordinary office worker. By the finale, the scheme has spiralled into a corporate war involving hidden money, collapsing alliances and one last moment that leaves viewers wondering whether victory really belongs to anyone.

The drama blends corporate intrigue with romantic tension between Park Shin Hye’s Hong Geum-bo and Go Kyung Pyo’s Sin Jeong-woo, a strategist who believes numbers are the only truth.

Around them stands a complicated circle of allies and rivals, including Ha Yoon Kyung as Ko Bok-hui, Cho Han Gyeol as Albert O / AI Bon, and a powerful corporate family led by Lee Deok Hwa as Chairman Kang Pil-beom.

Episode 16 wastes no time pushing every storyline toward its breaking point. The aftermath begins quietly with Kim Mi-suk, who wakes from her ordeal and reunites with the women from the dormitory.

She chooses to recover away from the chaos, staying with Geum-bo’s parents, played by Kim Young Woong and Lee Soo Mi. Yet even that calm space is overshadowed by the rumours spreading across Hanmin Securities.

Inside the company headquarters, Song Ju-ran, portrayed by Park Mi Hyun, finally realises she has been outplayed. A photo confirms that the seemingly harmless employee “Jang-mi” is actually Hong Geum-bo, the investigator who once scrutinised their company.

Ju-ran’s problem is simple but dangerous: she cannot openly attack Geum-bo without revealing that she lost Chairman Kang’s hidden money. Her quiet panic sets off a chain of counterattacks.

Ko Bok-hui, Geum-bo’s closest ally, refuses Ju-ran’s attempts to manipulate her. Instead, she warns the team that their cover is blown. When Ju-ran tries to intimidate Geum-bo, she receives the opposite response: a calm offer.

Geum-bo proposes a trade. She will return the stolen funds if Ju-ran removes Sin Jeong-woo from Hanmin.

At first the idea seems impossible, but events move quickly. Evidence surfaces that Jeong-woo’s ally O Deok-gyu sold company shares to a mysterious investment group called Yeouido Pirates, whose CEO turns out to be Geum-bo herself. When Jeong-woo confronts her, she does not deny it.

The moment is witnessed by Kang No-ra, Chairman Kang’s granddaughter, played by Choi Ji Su. Her discovery creates another complication in the fragile alliances.

Meanwhile, Ju-ran’s suspicion leads her to search the dormitory where Geum-bo’s team lives. A henchman breaks into their apartment, only to face a dramatic bluff: Geum-bo threatens to burn the cash pile with a lighter. With the dormitory fire alarm ringing and residents charging down the hallway, the intruder flees.

The real turning point arrives when Geum-bo delivers recorded evidence of Jeong-woo’s corporate manipulation to Ju-ran. Ju-ran brings the evidence to Chairman Kang, who reacts with ruthless efficiency. To protect his own reputation, he pressures investors to remove Jeong-woo from power.

After months of strategic manoeuvres, Sin Jeong-woo is forced out of Hanmin Securities.

His final conversation with Bok-hui reveals something rare: concern for Geum-bo’s safety. The rivalry between him and Geum-bo may be fierce, but it still carries traces of their complicated past.

With her undercover mission exposed, Geum-bo resigns from Hanmin. But leaving the company is not the end of her game.

In a bold twist, she meets Jeong-woo and offers him a job working with Yeouido Pirates. The offer shocks him, but the logic is clear. Joining her gives him both revenge against Hanmin and a chance to keep an eye on the unpredictable strategist he once loved.

Reluctantly, Jeong-woo joins Geum-bo’s team.

From there the operation accelerates. Using Bok-hui’s knowledge of Ju-ran’s office safe, the group steals the account documents tied to Hanmin’s secret slush funds. They quietly drain the accounts connected to multiple executives.

The team’s ultimate goal is control. By purchasing enough shares, Yeouido Pirates becomes Hanmin’s second-largest shareholder with a 19 percent stake.

While the pirates strengthen their position, chaos spreads inside the company. Chairman Kang must choose a new successor. His candidates are Albert O and No-ra.

Albert gambles everything by claiming to be the mysterious pirate captain. The move triggers suspicion and eventually gets both him and O Deok-gyu expelled from the company. Albert then confronts his grandfather, accusing him of ordering the death of a family member in the past.

The confrontation costs Albert everything. He loses his inheritance and his status within the family.

At the same time, No-ra travels to Switzerland, where millions of dollars are hidden in her name. She nearly withdraws the funds but loses her nerve. Years of fear about her grandfather’s power stop her at the last moment.

Instead, she returns to Korea and unexpectedly becomes the new president of Hanmin Securities.

The finale’s most satisfying moment arrives when Sin Jeong-woo calls Chairman Kang as a representative of Yeouido Pirates, thanking him for the slush fund money that allowed them to buy Hanmin shares. It is a perfectly delivered taunt.

But the victory comes with a warning.

Chairman Kang finally understands how completely he has been outplayed. Furious and humiliated, he decides the only remaining solution is direct retaliation.

The episode ends with Geum-bo walking home at night. Suddenly headlights blaze behind her. Tyres screech.

The screen cuts to black.

Undercover Miss Hong Korean drama ending explained EP16

The ending of Undercover Miss Hong is less about triumph and more about the cost of power. Geum-bo and her team succeed in weakening Hanmin and exposing corruption, but the system itself remains intact.

Chairman Kang still holds influence. His final reaction shows that powerful figures rarely disappear quietly.

Geum-bo’s strategy worked because she built something Chairman Kang never understood: loyalty. Every member of her team joins her not for profit but because she once protected them.

In contrast, Kang’s empire collapses because his allies only cared about power.

The unresolved final moment suggests that the battle between Geum-bo and Kang is far from finished. Her victory in the corporate arena may only be the beginning of a much larger confrontation.

Park Shin Hye as Hong Geum-bo / Hong Jang-mi
The mastermind behind Yeouido Pirates. Geum-bo evolves from undercover investigator to strategic leader willing to challenge a corporate empire.

Go Kyung Pyo as Sin Jeong-woo
A calculating strategist who begins as Geum-bo’s rival but eventually joins her side. His loyalty remains complicated but his intelligence proves essential.

Ha Yoon Kyung as Ko Bok-hui
The emotional backbone of the team. Bok-hui’s loyalty to Geum-bo comes from years of trust and shared hardship.

Cho Han Gyeol as Albert O / AI Bon
A brilliant but impulsive heir whose confrontation with his family leaves him stripped of wealth but finally free.

Choi Ji Su as Kang No-ra
Caught between family loyalty and moral responsibility. By becoming Hanmin’s president, she stands in the most dangerous position of all.

Lee Deok Hwa as Kang Pil-beom
The ruthless founder of Hanmin Securities. Even after being exposed, he remains the drama’s most unpredictable force.

Undercover Miss Hong ends with Geum-bo and her allies gaining major control over Hanmin’s shares while Chairman Kang prepares retaliation. The corporate war is far from finished, leaving the door open for future developments.

A clever mix of financial intrigue, comedy and character drama. The finale delivers satisfying twists while keeping the larger conflict unresolved.

Is the ending of Undercover Miss Hong happy or sad?
The finale sits somewhere in between. Geum-bo wins a major strategic battle, but Chairman Kang remains dangerous and the final scene suggests the fight is not over.

Will there be Undercover Miss Hong Season 2?
Season 2 has not been officially confirmed. However, the ending clearly leaves room for continuation and rumours suggest tvN may consider expanding the story.

What could happen in Season 2 if it happens?
A second season would likely explore the fallout of Yeouido Pirates becoming a major shareholder, Chairman Kang’s retaliation, and the complicated alliance between Geum-bo and Jeong-woo as they try to reshape Hanmin from the outside.

Why did the drama end so openly?
Reports around the series suggest the creators always planned a “cool end” that keeps the story alive rather than closing every thread immediately. If the drama continues, the final confrontation could arrive in a future season.

Undercover Miss Hong finishes with the feeling that the real battle has only just begun. Geum-bo’s team has proven they can outsmart a powerful corporation, but the final seconds remind viewers that people like Chairman Kang rarely accept defeat quietly.

Did the drama deliver the ending you expected, or do you think the story needs another season to truly finish the fight?
