Theo Zhu (Zhu Zhengting) has moved quickly to shut down fresh dating rumours after a viral video showing him alongside a woman at a property renovation site triggered widespread speculation across Chinese entertainment circles on 30 March 2026. 

The clip, circulated by entertainment outlets and rapidly picked up by fan communities, appeared to show the idol reviewing design materials and construction plans, with online observers pointing to what they claimed were matching phone accessories as supposed evidence of a personal relationship.

The speculation escalated within hours as additional claims surfaced suggesting that Zhu Zhengting returned to the same property the following day, this time accompanied by his father.

That detail fuelled further assumptions among netizens, with some interpreting the visit as a sign of long-term personal planning, including talk of a potential private residence or even a future “wedding home”. 

None of these claims were substantiated, but they spread quickly across social media platforms where fan theories often travel faster than verified information.

In response, Zhu Zhengting’s management issued a same-day statement firmly rejecting the allegations, describing the circulating claims as entirely unfounded. 

The agency made clear that the narrative of a romantic relationship was “purely baseless” and stressed that the situation had been misrepresented from the outset. 

It also drew a clear boundary between the public life of the artist and the private lives of individuals around him, underlining that non-celebrities connected to him are entitled to ordinary privacy without intrusion.

The statement went further, signalling a more assertive stance on legal protection.

According to the agency, evidence has already been collected regarding potential violations, including the spread of inaccurate information, covert filming, and breaches of personal privacy. 

The management confirmed it is prepared to pursue legal measures to safeguard both the artist’s reputation and the rights of those involved, a move that reflects a broader tightening across the industry when it comes to unauthorised surveillance and speculative reporting.

A section of fans rallied behind Zhu Zhengting, arguing that the footage proves little and criticising what they see as a recurring pattern of over-interpretation by gossip accounts. Others, however, revisited past remarks made by the idol regarding professional commitment and personal boundaries, questioning whether public expectations placed on idols remain realistic in an evolving industry.
