Thai-Belgian actress Mai Davika Hoorne (Davikah) has addressed growing fan concern after quietly deactivating her Twitter account, confirming the move was a deliberate step to protect her well-being rather than a sudden disappearance.

In a recent interview, Mai Davika explained that the decision came after prolonged exposure to online negativity, which she admitted she found increasingly difficult to manage.

Once known for her active and approachable presence on social media, the actress said the very openness that endeared her to fans also left her vulnerable.

“I never really saw myself as a celebrity,” she said.

“I felt like I was everyone’s friend, so I wanted to reply, to explain things. But it turns out you can’t always do that.”

Her remarks offer a candid look at the blurred line between accessibility and pressure in the digital age.

Mai Davika described herself as someone quick to respond and emotionally invested in conversations online, a habit that often escalated situations rather than resolving them.

Over time, the accumulation of negative comments began to take a toll.

She revealed that this was not her first attempt to step away. Previous breaks from social media had ended with her return, only to face the same cycle again.

The pattern, she said, eventually made one thing clear: “There’s no way to win against social media.”

Mai Davika’s experience reflects a broader reality for public figures navigating online platforms, where visibility often comes with unfiltered scrutiny.

She stressed that social media requires not just awareness but strategy and restraint — qualities she admits she struggled to maintain consistently.

The turning point came when she realised she could not stop herself from engaging.

“If I can’t control my hands, then I’ll just remove the app,” she said, framing her decision as a practical solution rather than a dramatic exit.

For now, stepping back entirely is her way of regaining balance.

Reactions among fans and netizens have been mixed but largely empathetic. Many expressed support, praising her honesty and encouraging her to prioritise her well-being. Others admitted they would miss her candid interactions, which had made her feel more relatable than distant.

A smaller but vocal group questioned whether public figures should develop thicker skin, highlighting the ongoing debate around celebrity accountability versus personal boundaries.

Still, the prevailing sentiment leans towards understanding. In an era where constant access is often expected, Mai Davika’s decision has sparked conversations about the cost of that accessibility and whether stepping back should be normalised rather than scrutinised.

For now, Mai Davika has made it clear this is not a permanent goodbye.

She hinted at a possible return once she feels stronger, describing her current break as a necessary pause to “recharge”.

Until then, she remains focused on her work, away from the noise that once surrounded her daily routine.

.. if you were in her position, would you log off too — or try to push through it?
