The upcoming Thai supernatural thriller Ghost Board (กล่องผี สุ่มวิญญาณ) is officially set for theatrical release on 12 March 2026, with IMAX screenings confirmed. Directed by Chanathip Wongpoltree, the film blends horror, friendship drama and a nostalgic board-game concept that has already sparked strong early anticipation among Thai cinema fans.

Ghost Board follows a group of friends who uncover an ancient board game hidden inside a remote temple. What begins as curiosity quickly turns into chaos when a cast of the dice unleashes a vengeful spirit. The game becomes a trap where every move carries consequences. To survive, they must finish what they started before dawn breaks. The tagline says it plainly: “Some Games Should Never Be Played.”

This horror-supernatural project has been widely described as Thailand’s answer to a cursed board-game concept reminiscent of 1990s adventure blockbusters, but with a distinctly local twist.

The newly released trailer, which first screened during media showings of The Undertaker 2, immediately caught attention online for its tense atmosphere, fast-paced sequences and strong group dynamics.

Directed by Chanathip Wongpoltree, the film features a youthful but promising cast lineup:

Main Roles:

  • Meepooh Win Sakulsaengprapha as Ben

  • Care Panisara Rikulsurakan as Bell

  • Neen Neennara Boonnithipaisit as Phrikthai

Supporting Roles:

  • Chae Ongart Cheamcharoenpornkul as Sergeant Pao

Industry insiders are noting the chemistry between Care Panisara and Meepooh Win, particularly after behind-the-scenes clips circulated on social platforms.

Their off-screen dynamic appears to translate well on camera, adding emotional weight to the tension-heavy storyline. Early viewers of the trailer praised the balance between suspense and light character-driven humour, suggesting the film will not rely purely on scares but also on relationships under pressure.

Expect layered tension rather than constant jump moments. The film builds its horror through atmosphere, countdown pressure and moral choices within the game. Each round intensifies the stakes, while the friendships at the centre of the story are tested in unpredictable ways.

Visually, the production leans into vivid cinematography and strong colour contrasts, giving temple sequences a haunting yet cinematic glow.

The board itself becomes almost a character in its own right. Meanwhile, the youthful ensemble adds warmth and relatability, which makes the supernatural threat feel closer to home.

Public reaction has been mixed but engaged. Many Thai netizens are excited, calling it “Thailand’s horror Jumanji moment” and praising the IMAX release decision. Others remain cautiously optimistic, waiting to see whether the story delivers beyond its strong trailer concept.

Some fans are particularly confident due to the production studio’s previous success with the Death Whisperer horror trilogy, which raised expectations around technical quality and pacing.

Ghost Board will premiere in Thai cinemas, including IMAX screens, starting 12 March 2026. Tickets are expected to open for advance booking shortly before release week.

For international viewers, the primary way to watch at launch will be through theatrical screenings in Thailand and selected regional markets. English subtitles are expected to be available in major cinemas, particularly in Bangkok and tourist-heavy locations.

As for global digital access, there are rumours that international streaming distribution is under negotiation. However, no official global platform has been confirmed yet. Fans outside Thailand should monitor announcements from major Asian streaming platforms, as overseas digital release details are reportedly to be announced soon.

If you are planning to watch with English subtitles, your best option initially will be cinema screenings. Once digital rights are finalised, it is likely that subtitled versions will follow on global platforms.

The appeal lies in its blend of nostalgia, friendship drama and supernatural folklore. The concept of a cursed board game is familiar, but the Thai cultural setting gives it fresh energy. The youthful cast, polished trailer and IMAX rollout have positioned Ghost Board as one of Thailand’s most anticipated horror releases of 2026.
