Taiwanese singer Yoga Lin has publicly called out a media outlet for reviving his old dating rumours with G.E.M. (Gloria Tang), saying the repeated reports left him “extremely uncomfortable” and nearly pushed him to take legal action.
Known for rarely showing frustration in public, the usually composed star surprised fans after posting a firm Instagram Story addressing what he described as recycled and misleading coverage about his past relationship. According to Taiwanese media reports, a television station and two journalists were said to have brought up his old romance again, even linking it to G.E.M.’s hit track “Bubble” (泡沫).
What Triggered Yoga Lin’s Response?
The renewed buzz reportedly surfaced ahead of G.E.M.’s upcoming I AM GLORIA World Tour 2.0 concert in Taipei this April, which sold out swiftly after tickets went on sale.
Some headlines revisited her relationship history, referencing phrases like “heartbreak” and “break-up with Yoga Lin”, and even implying that the background story of “Bubble”, released in 2012, was directly tied to him.
However, fans were quick to point out that timeline details don’t quite line up.
The song dropped in 2012, and the pair were still seen appearing together publicly the following year, including walking the Golden Melody Awards red carpet hand in hand. For many observers, the narrative being pushed simply didn’t match past events.
Yoga Lin admitted he had only read the article recently and was taken aback by its content. In his Instagram Story, he did not hold back his feelings, writing that the report made him “very upset” and that he had even considered filing a lawsuit after the Lunar New Year holiday.

Why He Chose Not to Sue
Despite the anger expressed in his initial words, Yoga Lin ultimately decided against immediate legal action. He shared that his faith played a key role in that decision.
In the post, he explained that choosing not to sue was not an acceptance of the reporting, but rather a personal choice rooted in belief.
Importantly, although he mentioned the media company and journalists involved, he deliberately removed their names before publishing the post. He stated clearly that he did not want them to become targets of online attacks.
He also shared a Bible verse from Romans, referencing messages about living peacefully and leaving judgement to a higher authority.
Still, he made it clear that once work resumes after the holiday, he will ask his colleagues to contact the relevant parties regarding the matter.
Many fans stood firmly by Yoga Lin, praising him for speaking up while still trying to prevent unnecessary online hostility. Some described his response as “calm but firm”, saying it showed maturity and restraint. Others felt the media should respect boundaries and stop revisiting old relationships for clicks, especially when timelines appear questionable.
On the other hand, a few netizens argued that public figures inevitably face renewed scrutiny, particularly when major tours and concerts spark interest in past stories. Some questioned whether the situation could have been handled privately instead of publicly addressing it on Instagram.
Yoga Lin’s rare moment of visible frustration has certainly sparked wider conversations across Taiwanese entertainment circles. Do you think media outlets should avoid bringing up past celebrity relationships once they’re long over? Or is it simply part of the entertainment cycle?
