Wang Yibo found himself back at the centre of online controversy after alleged chat screenshots bearing his name went viral on Weibo on February 27 and 28, 2026, pushing related keywords straight into trending searches and reigniting long-standing rumours involving Qi Meihe.
The screenshots, first uploaded by a social media user, were claimed to show private chat conversations allegedly belonging to Wang Yibo. According to reports circulating online, the content included remarks about other well-known artists and personal information, quickly sparking heated discussion across multiple platforms.
On February 28, Yuehua Entertainment released an official statement firmly denying the authenticity of the leaked material.
The agency described the screenshots as “seriously inaccurate and defamatory”, stressing that the content not only harmed Wang Yibo’s reputation but also deliberately misled the public.

Yuehua confirmed that lawyers have been commissioned to carry out full evidence collection and that legal action will be pursued to the fullest extent.
The agency also demanded that those involved immediately stop spreading the alleged false information, delete all related content, and minimise its negative impact. They further urged netizens to remain rational, avoid passing along unverified rumours, and help maintain a healthier online environment.
Despite the denial, the incident reopened old speculation linking Wang Yibo and Qi Meihe.
Years ago, rumours claimed the two were in a relationship for four years, with online chatter pointing to alleged PCR testing at the same location and time, and screenshots suggesting shared registration details. None of those claims were ever officially confirmed.
During the filming of The Untamed, Wang Yibo was once photographed looking at a woman’s photo on his phone, which some netizens speculated was Qi Meihe.
His agency later clarified the situation, and the rumours gradually faded due to a lack of concrete evidence.

Further speculation followed in 2019 when a netizen claimed to have seen Wang Yibo and Qi Meihe holding hands in Zhuhai, Guangdong.
In 2020, additional chatter emerged after both were reportedly staying at the same hotel in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, during Valentine’s Day. Again, neither side addressed the claims publicly.
Another moment that fuelled discussion came when Wang Yibo posted a perfume promotional photo while wearing a ring.
Some netizens claimed a reflection in the ring resembled Qi Meihe, but the post was later deleted and the agency clarified that the reflection belonged to a staff member.

Qi Meihe, known as the daughter of a former director of Sparkle Roll Group, has long been a controversial figure online.
She has previously faced criticism over alleged remarks in private chat groups and was linked to disputes involving Nana Ouyang and Arthur Chen Feiyu.

Reports in 2021 claimed her father’s company had gone bankrupt, though the family was still said to retain industry connections.
Online reactions to the alleged chat records have been sharply divided. Supporters of Wang Yibo were quick to call the screenshots poorly fabricated, pointing out inconsistencies such as the lack of voice messages, facial verification, or clear account ownership.

Many fans argued that the content resembled recycled social media clips rather than genuine private chats.
Others questioned the logic of the alleged spending habits shown in the screenshots, with some mocking the contrast between low-cost daily purchases and an expensive bottle of wine. Meanwhile, sceptical netizens dug deeper and claimed the chats were created by a known sasaeng fan, further weakening the credibility of the leak.
However, a smaller group of netizens argued that the controversy highlighted ongoing issues around privacy and online accountability in the entertainment industry, urging authorities to tighten regulation against fabricated leaks.
As of now, neither Wang Yibo nor Qi Meihe has issued a personal response to the latest allegations. With legal action officially underway and public debate still raging, this story is far from cooling down. What do you think — is this another case of recycled rumours, or does it expose deeper problems in celebrity privacy?
