Chinese actress Bai Lu found herself at the centre of public discussion after a video surfaced showing her stepping out of her car when she realised she was being followed. The incident reportedly happened while she was travelling home from the airport, turning what should have been a routine journey into a tense and unsettling moment that quickly caught the attention of netizens.
According to widely shared discussions on Weibo, the vehicle carrying Bai Lu was trailed closely by another car suspected of attempting to take unauthorised photos. Many viewers pointed out that the behaviour wasn’t just intrusive but also dangerous, especially with multiple vehicles involved on public roads.
The situation escalated when Bai Lu asked the car to pull over. In the viral clip, she is seen stepping outside and scanning her surroundings, clearly trying to identify who had been following her.
The suspected individuals reportedly drove away or concealed themselves before any direct confrontation could happen.

Moments later, Bai Lu returned to the car visibly shaken and frustrated, a rare public display of emotion from an actress known for her calm and gentle image.
Fans were quick to react, with many expressing heartbreak and anger. Some fans criticised the behaviour as crossing a clear line, saying support should never come at the cost of someone’s safety or peace of mind.
Others focused on her reaction, noting that it showed just how much pressure public figures quietly endure behind the scenes.
Netizens’ reactions were mixed but largely condemning. A large group stressed that secretly filming and following someone cannot be excused as admiration.
Many comments highlighted road safety concerns, warning that such actions could easily lead to accidents involving innocent people. A smaller number called for stricter enforcement of existing rules to deter similar incidents in the future.
Shortly after the video spread, Bai Lu’s management released a firm official statement condemning the behaviour.
The statement described the actions as a serious violation of privacy and personal safety, demanded the immediate deletion of all illegally obtained footage, and warned that legal steps would be taken against repeat offenders.
The agency also urged the public to respect artists’ personal space and focus their attention on their work rather than their private lives.
Ironically, the incident occurred during a period when Bai Lu has been receiving strong praise for her latest drama Unveil: Jadewind.
Viewers have applauded her refreshed image and more layered performance in the series. Fellow artist Song Yuqi even publicly complimented her appearance and styling in the drama, adding to the positive buzz around the project.
What do you think—where should the line be drawn between support and intrusion? Should there be tougher consequences, or better awareness among fans?
