Japanese visual kei band Lyrica (has officially announced its disbandment after losing contact with vocalist Usagi earlier this year. Although his safety has now been confirmed by family members, the group revealed that continuing activities together is no longer possible, bringing their short but intense run to an end this March.

The band shared the update in a formal statement, explaining that Usagi had been out of touch since 11 January. On 17 January 2026, the members confirmed they were unable to reach him. Days of concern followed among fans, with speculation spreading across Japanese and overseas fan communities.

Relief finally came when the band reported that relatives had confirmed Usagi is safe.

However, after internal discussions, the members decided that resuming activities with him would be difficult. As a result, Lyrica will officially disband following their one-man live on 13 March 2026 at Zirco Tokyo.

Lyrica originally began as the session project Usagi no Harawata in December 2021 before officially forming as Lyrica in July 2023.

The line-up consisted of vocalist Usagi, guitarist MIME, bassist Kakeru, who joined in October 2022, and drummer Mona, who became part of the band in February 2025.

Despite being relatively new in the scene, the group quickly gained attention within the visual kei community for their intense stage presence and emotional sound.

Before their final show, Lyrica will still perform on 27 February at Ikebukuro BlackHole with support vocalist Mikann from Sai no Kawara stepping in.

The band clarified that this arrangement was carefully considered so they could properly meet fans one last time.

Two European tour dates scheduled for June in Germany have been officially cancelled.

The cancelled shows include Lyrica in Germany on 6 June at Yuka Köln and 7 June at Yuka Club, Cologne. Refund details will be announced once arrangements are finalised.

Fan reactions have been mixed and emotional. Many expressed deep relief that Usagi is safe, with messages of gratitude flooding social media. Others admitted feeling heartbroken that the band could not continue, especially after the momentum they had built over the past year.

Some overseas fans shared disappointment about the cancelled Germany dates, while still promising support for the remaining members.

Japanese netizens largely praised the band for communicating clearly and prioritising safety. International fans echoed similar sentiments, saying that while the ending feels sudden, they respect the decision.

Support messages for MIME, Kakeru and Mona have steadily increased, with fans encouraging them to pursue new projects in the future.

Lyrica’s journey may have been brief, but it leaves behind a strong impression in the modern visual kei scene.

Their final live in March will now carry even more emotional weight, serving as both a farewell and a thank you to supporters who stood by them through uncertainty.

What are your thoughts on Lyrica’s decision to disband? Do you think the members will return with new projects soon?
