Chinese actress Li Jiajie has publicly denied rumours linking her romantically with Cheng Xiang, making it clear that the two are nothing more than friends. On 27 February, Li shared a long and direct clarification on social media after her name began trending over speculation about a secret relationship.
In her statement, Li Jiajie stressed that there has never been any romantic involvement between her and Cheng Xiang, calling recent reports exaggerated and misleading. She said the rumours snowballed quickly and painted a picture far removed from reality.
One of the biggest talking points online was a exposed WeChat screenshot showing a contact name reading “Queen Yuanyuan 925”.
Li Jiajie explained that the name was the result of a casual truth-or-dare game that she forgot to change back. She described the situation as pure bad luck and added that she would be steering clear of similar games in the future.
Li Jiajie also directly addressed claims that she and Cheng Xiang spent New Year’s Eve together or went on a private holiday.

According to her, she welcomed the New Year in Hangzhou with close female friends, not with any male actor. As for the alleged holiday trip, she clarified that it was a group outing involving several people.
She revealed that she even cancelled a flight once the rumours gained traction, hoping to avoid further misunderstandings while discussions about her personal life spiralled online.
In a more serious part of her post, Li Jiajie shared an unsettling experience at the airport, where she felt followed and suddenly received calls and messages from unknown numbers. She believes some individuals may have illegally obtained her personal information.
Li Jiajie confirmed that she has reported the matter to the police and is gathering evidence related to defamation and privacy violations. She made it clear that she will not tolerate malicious rumours and is prepared to take legal steps if necessary.
Addressing another point of controversy, Li Jiajie clarified her comment about not dating male actors. She emphasised that it reflects her current personal preference, not a judgement or bias against any profession. She urged the public not to twist her words into something they are not.

Reactions online have been mixed. Many fans praised Li Jiajie for speaking up calmly and transparently, applauding her for protecting her boundaries and privacy. Some netizens expressed sympathy over her airport experience and called for more respect towards celebrities’ personal lives.
However, others remain sceptical, questioning why such minor details became public in the first place. A small group continues to dissect timelines and screenshots, though the overall tone has shifted towards understanding following her detailed explanation.
In her post, Li Jiajie also shared lighter personal details, mentioning her cat Baobao and another cat, Tudou, currently cared for by a close friend.
She described herself as an ENFP with a wide social circle, reiterating that friendship does not equal romance.
Li Jiajie ended her clarification by reminding everyone that she has the right to manage her social media space and personal life. She urged netizens to stay rational, verify information, and stop spreading unverified claims.
What do you think about Li Jiajie’s response? Was her clarification enough to end the rumours, or will online speculation continue? Share your thoughts and join the discussion.
