Jackson Wang’s fashion label TEAM WANG design has officially partnered with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), delivering a limited-edition collaboration that merges luxury streetwear with elite football culture. The collection, launched in celebration of the Year of the Horse, brings traditional Chinese symbolism into the heart of French football, set to debut on pitch during Ligue 1 action this February.

Founded in Shanghai by global artist and creative director Jackson Wang, TEAM WANG design has steadily built its identity around minimalist luxury with cultural depth. This latest move sees the brand step directly into European football territory, teaming up with the French champions for a drop that feels both ceremonial and competitive.

The collaboration introduces two standout pieces: a reimagined PSG home shirt and a special pre-match white warm-up jersey.

The updated home shirt retains PSG’s iconic red-and-blue silhouette but layers in TEAM WANG’s sharp, contemporary aesthetic.

The most eye-catching detail is the Chinese calligraphic character for “horse” (馬), woven seamlessly into the player’s name and number.

Rather than sitting flat, the typography appears deliberately distressed, giving it a worn-in finish that symbolises endurance, movement, and time — a nod to the physical grind of football at the highest level.

Meanwhile, the pre-match white jersey takes a softer yet equally striking direction. A red gradient flows upward from deep burgundy into lighter tones, inspired by traditional Chinese ink painting.

On the back, the repeated calligraphic “horse” character forms a rhythmic structural motif.

The PSG red crest, TEAM WANG design insignia, and Nike Swoosh appear on both front and reverse, creating visual continuity whether in still shots or full sprint.

Both pieces will be worn by PSG players during their match against Metz on Matchday 23 of Ligue 1 McDonald’s, taking place on 21st February 2026 at Parc des Princes

That timing alone makes this more than just a fashion drop — it becomes part of a live sporting moment.

Fan and netizen reactions have been mixed but loud. On Chinese social platforms, many praised the collaboration as a proud cultural crossover, calling it a “strong global statement” and applauding Jackson Wang for bringing Chinese calligraphy onto one of Europe’s biggest football stages.

Some streetwear fans highlighted the distressed number detailing as a clever design choice that sets it apart from standard kit collaborations.

However, a section of football purists questioned whether fashion-forward reinterpretations should alter traditional kit typography at all. A few PSG supporters debated whether the distressed aesthetic enhances the club’s identity or distracts from it. Meanwhile, sneaker and streetwear communities seemed overwhelmingly positive, already predicting fast resale demand given the limited-edition nature.

From a branding perspective, this collaboration positions TEAM WANG design further into the global luxury-sport conversation, while PSG continues strengthening its status as more than just a football club — but a lifestyle brand.

What do you think — does the fusion of Chinese symbolism and French football heritage work, or would you prefer traditional kits untouched?
