For a group that was built on the idea of crossing borders and redefining Asian pop, Gen1es’ journey has come to a much earlier stop than anyone expected. The nine-member multicultural girl group formed through Chuang Asia: Thailand has officially announced the termination of all group activities, with disbandment taking effect on 6 February 2026. The news landed heavily among fans, especially considering Gen1es had not yet reached their second anniversary.

On 3 February 2026, RYCE Entertainment released an official statement confirming that the decision was made after extensive discussions and mutual agreement between management and all members. While Gen1es were initially contracted to promote until 2027, the group will now wrap up all activities under the Gen1es name nearly a year ahead of schedule.

Gen1es debuted in August 2024 after being formed through the Thai–Chinese survival show Chuang Asia: Thailand.

The group consisted of Qiao Yiyu, Ruan, Pailiu, Yean, Elyn, Wang Ke, Xueyao, Didi, and Emma—members representing different cultural backgrounds across Asia.

Before their official debut, they released the English pre-debut single Lucky Bell in April 2024, followed by their debut track Hourglass, which introduced their fairy-like concept and global-pop direction.

Despite their strong lineup and clear international positioning, Gen1es often faced criticism over limited promotions and scarce performance opportunities.

Many fans felt the group’s diverse talents were underused, especially in comparison to the potential shown during the survival show.

Over time, discussions around missed chances, short promotional cycles, and unclear long-term planning became common within the fandom.

In its statement, management expressed gratitude for the support and love shown to the group throughout their short but meaningful journey.

They also asked the public to continue supporting each member as they move forward individually, emphasising that this marks not an end, but a transition into new stages of their careers.

Fan and netizen reactions have been mixed but emotional. Some expressed disappointment and frustration, pointing to the early timing of the disbandment and the gap between expectations and reality.

Others responded with messages of understanding, thanking the members for their hard work and choosing to focus on supporting their future paths rather than dwelling on what could have been. Across platforms, many fans described Gen1es as a group that “ended before it truly began.”

What comes next for each member remains open, and that uncertainty is exactly why this story isn’t over yet. What do you think led to this early ending, and where do you hope to see the Gen1es members go next?
