Actress Zhang Yuqi is once again at the centre of intense online discussion after a series of resurfaced accusations pushed her name back into trending topics, this time spilling over into speculation about her television appearances. What began as personal allegations shared on social media has quickly turned into a wider public debate, with netizens dragging entertainment platforms and broadcasters into the conversation.
The renewed controversy stems from claims made by Ge Xiaoqian, the former wife of Zhang Yuqi’s ex-husband. In a post dated 24 January 2026, Ge said she received an anonymous phone call in October 2024 from someone using a disguised voice. According to her statement, the caller appeared to know detailed personal information about her home and family, ending the call with a brief but unsettling message. Ge claimed the incident left her shaken and prompted her to report the matter to the police.
In a more recent update, Ge stated that based on what she understood from the investigation, two individuals allegedly linked to the incident were people surnamed Sun and Fan, whom she described as lawyers.
She also shared documents and recordings she said were notarised, while adding that the information she posted was drawn from publicly available sources. As of now, there has been no official confirmation from authorities regarding these claims.
The situation has also revived older accusations. Ge previously alleged that a woman surnamed Zhang had been involved in her marriage before her divorce was finalised.
She claimed that in 2016, home security footage showed the woman frequently entering and leaving her residence, interacting with children and household staff.

Ge further said she noticed luggage tags bearing the name “Yuqi Zhang” in photos taken inside the home, which she described as the basis of her suspicions.
That same year, Ge posted another message questioning childbirth practices, directly tagging Zhang Yuqi and sharing documents she claimed were notarised, showing two children’s birth dates only months apart.

These claims, however, remain one-sided and have not been verified by any official body.
As the discussion escalated, attention shifted to Zhang Yuqi’s reported involvement in the Liaoning TV Spring Festival Gala.

Online reactions intensified, with some netizens openly urging broadcasters to remove her from the programme.
On 25 January, local media reported that after checking with multiple sources, Zhang Yuqi was unlikely to appear at the gala, though no formal statement has been released by the channel itself.
Fan and netizen reactions remain sharply divided.
Supporters argue that unverified accusations should not determine a public figure’s career or appearances, stressing the importance of confirmed facts.
Others take a tougher stance, saying entertainment platforms should act cautiously when controversies arise, regardless of legal outcomes. A third group has voiced fatigue, questioning why private disputes repeatedly turn into public spectacle.
What happens next is likely to depend on whether any official clarification emerges.
Without confirmed findings, the story continues to sit in a grey area, fuelled by speculation, screenshots, and second-hand claims.
For now, Zhang Yuqi remains silent, while public opinion continues to shift in real time.
What’s your take on this situation? Should broadcasters wait for clear conclusions, or is public sentiment already shaping the outcome?
