With The Upshaws Part 7 officially wrapping up its latest run (Season 7), fans are suddenly feeling that familiar post-finale emptiness. After years of chaotic laughs, heartfelt moments, and painfully relatable family drama, viewers are now asking the big question: is this really the end for the Upshaw family, or could Netflix still surprise us with a Season 8?
As of now, Netflix has neither renewed nor cancelled The Upshaws for Season 8. The most recent release, known as Part 7, arrived on 15 January 2026 and currently stands as the show’s final chapter. While fans were hoping for a renewal announcement alongside the finale, Netflix has stayed completely silent on the show’s future.
One thing that often causes confusion is Netflix’s naming system. Instead of traditional seasons, The Upshaws has been released in “parts”.
Officially, Part 7 corresponds to Season 5 and appears to conclude the overall story. In total, the sitcom now has 60 episodes, all of which are available to stream, making it a complete binge from start to finish.
The series first premiered back in May 2021 and quickly built a loyal following thanks to its grounded humour and honest take on working-class family life. Created by Regina Y.
Hicks and Wanda Sykes, the show centres on Bennie Upshaw, a well-meaning mechanic doing his best to keep his family together while navigating money troubles, relationships, and personal growth. The ensemble cast, led by Mike Epps and Kim Fields, became one of the show’s biggest strengths over the years.

So why hasn’t Netflix confirmed Season 8 or Part 8 yet? While The Upshaws has remained popular, Netflix is known for letting long-running comedies end quietly without formal cancellation announcements.
Final viewership numbers for Part 7 haven’t been released publicly, but audience interest remained strong, with steady ratings and positive audience scores continuing right up to the finale.
Online reactions from fans and netizens are mixed. Some viewers feel the show ended at the right moment, praising the finale for giving the characters a sense of closure without dragging things out.
Others, however, believe there’s still plenty of story left to tell, especially with unresolved family dynamics that could easily fuel another part. Social media discussions show a clear divide between those satisfied with the ending and those hoping Netflix will give the Upshaws one last ride.
At the moment, very little is known about The Upshaws Season 8. Netflix rarely revives sitcoms once they’ve reached a natural stopping point, especially when key cast members are moving on to new projects. While there have been exceptions in recent years, the chances of a late renewal still appear slim.
That said, Netflix has surprised audiences before. With consistent fan support and ongoing online buzz, the door isn’t completely shut just yet. If anything changes or an official statement drops, updates are likely to follow.
Now it’s over to you. Do you think The Upshaws deserves another season, or did the series end at the perfect time? Were you satisfied with the finale, or are you still hoping for Part 8?
