Jpop group Pretty Chuu has officially confirmed another sudden line-up change, announcing that founding member Hakua Yua (白愛ゆあ) has been removed from the group with immediate effect. The announcement, released on January 18, 2026, came as a surprise to many fans, especially given Yua’s long-standing presence since the group’s formation in 2025.

According to the group’s official statement, Hakua Yua’s departure was due to a “serious violation of rules”. While no further details were shared, management confirmed that her contract was terminated on the same day, marking an immediate end to her activities with Pretty Chuu. 

The group also issued a formal apology to fans and related parties for the abrupt nature of the news.

Pretty Chuu stated that from January 19 onwards, the group will continue promotions and scheduled activities with the remaining four members. 

The management also reassured fans that all pending online merchandise orders will be fully processed and shipped as planned, aiming to minimise disruption following the announcement.

Shortly after the official notice, Hakua Yua herself addressed fans through her personal social media. In her message, she apologised for the sudden update and admitted that past actions on her part showed a lack of maturity. 

She expressed heartfelt gratitude towards fans, fellow members, producer Yurinya, and the staff who supported her throughout her journey. Yua also shared that she plans to take time away to reflect and focus on herself moving forward.

Behind the scenes, the reason behind Hakua Yua’s contract termination remains officially undisclosed, but online speculation has already started swirling. 

Some fans have linked the situation to rumours of anonymous nasty comments allegedly traced back to a Twitter account 

Earlier that same day, around five hours before Pretty Chuu’s termination announcement, Amatsuuni, a Japanese singer and influencer, posted about having identified an anonymous online critic as a member of a little-known idol group. 

She stated that she deliberately chose not to reveal the person’s identity immediately to avoid giving them unintended attention, adding that she would only speak up if the critic were to target her favourite content creator, scandal-focused YouTuber PokeKamen, framing it as her personal otaku responsibility to protect her oshi. 

While fans have connected the dots, it’s important to note that none of these claims have been confirmed by Pretty Chuu or Hakua Yua herself, leaving the true cause of the termination open to interpretation.

Meanwhile, producer Yurinya also addressed fans via her own social media, sharing a brief but emotional message. She apologised for the sudden announcement and admitted that the situation was deeply upsetting for her as well. 

Yurinya expressed her sadness over how things unfolded and gently asked fans to continue watching over and supporting Pretty Chuu as the group moves forward into its next chapter.

This marks the second member departure for Pretty Chuu within a year. In August 2025, member Amamiya Shuna also left the group following internal issues that drew heavy public attention at the time. With Hakua Yua’s exit, Pretty Chuu now enters a new phase as a four-member unit.

Online reactions have been mixed. Some fans expressed disappointment and concern over the group’s stability, while others voiced support for the remaining members and urged management to protect the group’s future. 

A portion of netizens praised the transparency of the announcement, while others questioned the lack of detail surrounding the rule violation.
