Japanese idol fans woke up to emotional news as Philosophy no Dance (aka "The Dance for Philosophy/フィロソフィーのダンス) confirmed that their long-running journey will officially come to an end in 2026. After more than a decade of music, live stages, and philosophy-driven pop, the group announced they will conclude all activities with a final solo concert at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on June 13, marking a carefully considered and heartfelt farewell rather than a sudden goodbye.

The announcement was made on January 13, with the group explaining that the decision followed long discussions between members and staff during their recent “triple anniversary year”.

In 2025, Philosophy no Dance celebrated three milestones at once: 10 years since formation, five years since their major-label debut, and three years with their current five-member lineup. According to the group, that symbolic moment made them reflect deeply on the future and ultimately agree on bringing their story to a meaningful close.

Formed in 2015 under the production of Kamo Keitaro, Philosophy no Dance built a unique identity by blending funk, soul, and thoughtful lyrics with polished idol performance.

Their major debut came in 2020 under Sony Music Labels with the single “Don’t Stop the Dance”, which set the tone for their groove-heavy sound and earned them a loyal fanbase beyond the typical idol scene.

The current lineup consists of Hinata Halu, Okutsu Mariri, Sato Maria, Kiyoshi Nono, and Kayama Nanako. This five-member formation was finalised in late 2022 and went on to define what many fans consider the group’s most mature and confident era.

Before the curtain fully falls, Philosophy no Dance still have a packed schedule ahead. A best album titled Dance to the Music – Journey with Philosophy no Dance – will be released on March 25, featuring a brand-new song produced by Kamo Keitaro.

From April, the group will embark on their nationwide final tour, The Last Tour – Journey with Philosophy no Dance –, leading up to the final Tokyo performance in June. Details for the LINE CUBE SHIBUYA concert will be announced at a later date.

In their official statement, the group thanked fans for the love and support they’ve received over the past decade, promising to deliver smiles, warmth, and happiness right up to their final moment on stage.

Rather than focusing on endings, the message emphasised gratitude and the hope that fans will continue to support each member as they step into new chapters of their lives.

Individual member messages further deepened the emotional impact.

Okutsu Mariri spoke about spending ten years singing with joy and wanting to leave behind lifelong memories through their remaining performances.

Sato Maria reflected on joining the group before it even had a name and expressed pride in witnessing every phase of its evolution.

Hinata Halu described her decade-long journey of self-discovery through idol life, while Kiyoshi Nono and Kayama Nanako shared heartfelt gratitude for the love that supported them through their three years in the group.

Fan and netizen reactions have been mixed but deeply emotional. Many long-time supporters described the announcement as painful yet respectful, praising the group for choosing a planned farewell instead of a sudden end.

Others expressed appreciation for the clear timeline, saying it gives fans time to prepare, attend live shows, and properly say goodbye. Some also highlighted how rare it is for idol groups to close their chapter with such transparency and mutual respect between members and staff.

If you’ve followed their music, attended their lives, or discovered them along the way, now might be the moment to look back, share your favourite song or stage, and talk about what this group meant to you. How did Philosophy no Dance leave their mark on your playlist or memories?
