The past has a way of resurfacing when least expected, and this time it arrived in the form of long, emotional social media posts. On 14 January, actress Huang Huiyi reignited a long-running controversy by openly revisiting her history with actor Bao Jianfeng, drawing fresh attention from fans, netizens, and industry watchers alike.
Huang shared a series of lengthy writings alongside old photos, restating her claim that Bao had been involved in another relationship before their marriage. The posts spread quickly across social platforms, with discussions snowballing within hours and placing both names firmly back on trending lists.
In her message, Huang explained that her years of silence were not about weakness or retreat. Instead, she said she chose to step back to keep the situation calm and avoid unnecessary escalation. However, ongoing pressure, including public judgement, repeated reports on her social media accounts, and attempts to silence her voice, eventually pushed her to speak openly.
She also revisited details of their marriage, stating it was registered on 28 August 2001 and carried out quietly, without a formal ceremony, wedding dress, or celebration.
According to Huang, the only gathering was a simple meal with close family and trusted friends the day after the registration. She linked her physical condition at the time, describing herself as extremely thin, to emotional strain she says began before the marriage and has lingered ever since.

This was not the first time Huang hinted at these issues. In an earlier livestream, she spoke about personal belongings she claims were taken from her home and later appeared in someone else’s possession, fuelling speculation among viewers and fans.
Bao Jianfeng’s studio responded swiftly. Prior to the latest posts, legal statements had already been issued denying rumours surrounding his private life and rejecting claims of overlapping relationships.
On the afternoon of 14 January, the studio released another official statement confirming that a civil lawsuit has been formally filed over alleged rights violations in digital spaces.
They stressed that all case materials have been submitted to the court and urged the public to wait for legal conclusions rather than jump to assumptions. The statement also called for restraint, discouraging online hostility and excessive sensationalism.

Public reaction has been sharply divided. Some netizens voiced support for Huang Huiyi, praising her decision to finally speak after years of staying quiet.
Others questioned the timing of the revelations, arguing that legal proceedings should be allowed to unfold without added online pressure. There were also voices urging both sides to step away from social media battles and let the matter be settled through official channels.
What’s clear is that this story has struck a chord with the public. Do you think revisiting the past brings clarity, or does it only deepen old wounds?
